The first time we played, the refs called a tight game and we had foul trouble. Gettys had 2 fouls with 7:01 to go in the first, and picked up his 3rd just 3 minutes into the 2nd half. Sanders had 2 fouls with 4:25 to go in the first... then got hit with 3 more in a span of 1:32 late in the 2nd half.
There were 22 fouls called against us - we've only had two games with more all season. There were 41 total fouls called in the game, which was the most in any of our regulation-length conference game this season (Wisconsin OT game saw 45 total fouls). Have to imagine that tomorrow's game will revert to the mean a bit, and will have a somewhat looser whistle - which would play in our favor.
Of course, with the tighter game, that led to more foul shots.... which they hit at a higher rate than their normal (76% vs. their season average 68.9%), and we hit at a lower rate (55.6% vs. a season average of 62.0%). They were also better from the arc than usual, while we were worse.
So, we ended up on the short end of a lot that game.... yet still managed to have it tied on the road with 1:19 remaining.
