Folks we are in the Big Ten. I go back to the Final Four year of 1976,so I remember when Princeton was a good Eastern school, but the last few times they played at The RAC they brought maybe fifty fans. They play in a minor conference as does Monmouth. Big Ten schools almost never play at a minor school. We played at Monmouth a few years ago as a courtesy because they were a local team opening a new arena. No need to do that again. Yes I know Villanova has played there but they have lots of alumni at The Shore and take a fair amount of players from there. We have to start acting like a Big Ten school. How often does Ohio State play at Kent,Penn State at Drexel,Iowa at Drake,Illinois at Eastern Illinois,Michigan at Eastern Michigan, etc.? No more minor league thinking. We are The State University of New Jersey,a member of the Big Ten Conference!!!

We should host a preseason tourney for the pride of NJ every year at the RAC or Pru...or at the previous years winner's house:

1)Seton Hall vs 8) FDU
2) RU vs 7) NJIT
3) Monmouth vs 6) St. Peter's
4)Princeton vs 5) Rider

Why?...What is the benefit / value? ...Does any other state do this?...The answer is No and for valid reasons

For scheduling and economic reasons, events like this don't make any sense in this day and age.

The real reason? Because I think it would be cool and fun. I'm not starting a GoFundMe to get this off the ground. Sorry I didn't have a pro forma ready before I posted my off the cuff remark...

The benefit could be monetary...maybe actually able to sell tickets to non-conference games. I'm sure you all were struggling to find tickets for Bryant. We can claim to be New Jersey's team, but this would be for bragging rights...like we have with Seton Hall. I'm sure the scheduling piece would be very difficult.

Can't do for scheduling; monetary and logistic purposes. Plus: RU and Seton Hall already schedule a game annually thus can't play each other twice. Same thing with Monmouth; St Peters and Rider - all who play each other twice in the MAAC. Further there is nothing to gain by Seton Hall or RU in this type of event.

It could be planned ahead of time, like starting in 2021 when there is plenty of time to change schedules...no reason the Hall game can't move...MAAC teams redundancy makes sense and is certainly not attractive - probably biggest issue with this spur of the moment off the top of my head idea you seem to think was a very serious proposal...logistics (easy travel, especially if done very start of season) and monetary are easier hurdles. Rutgers would have as much to gain as playing Bryant, Fordham, Stony Brook, no?

Part of this is my visceral reaction to being on opposing sides of the Princeton game argument from BK...love the trip to Jadwin, some Chuck's or Haven before hand...

You can go to Jadwin anytime you like....it's not like it magically appears only when Rutgers is there. 2 games there this week actually...I can probably score you a pair if you feel like visiting again

I enjoy going to cheer on my team as I've done since Littlepage. I have no desire to go if we aren't playing...and I'm sure you more than most have gone to some less desirable locations than Princeton. I went to school in the Princeton area and always got excited for those games....loved any chance to stick it to the blue blood Princeton crowd. Some of us enjoy traveling to games too, just can't make it to Nebraska consistently...so this is a nice alternative against a team we have a historical rivalry (not debatable) that is an easy drive for most RU fans, against a unique type of offense, and a game we often win.

You’ve really built up some anger over people disagreeing with you on this. You close a previous thread after going totally uncivil, now the snarky comments start again. Chill, dude.

Rutgers v Princeton Wrestling front page of Ledger sports section and a nice match to end the season. Wrestling isn't scared. Game still has cool cache in New Jersey. No reason in the world not to play them in hoops.

Should be on the schedule for every sport except Football. And if we still had Lightweight Football, we would be playing them still.

I grew up in South Brunswick and remember always catching the team buses going up or down Rt 1 on game day. For a little kid it was cool. Living in S. Bruns back then (farm country) I could totally relate to the feeling of not being "Princeton".

I liked the RU-Princeton series personally and would like to see it reopened.

Agree on the games with FDU , Monmouth etc-------playing them is fine but needs to be a home game.

Phil in Indiana they play a double header every year now featuring ND , IU , Purdue , Butler in Indianapolis and it draws very well.

I don't think that works here though-----just not enough high major programs to generate that kind of enthusiasm.
