I was not a fan early but he seemed to pick up his intensity and the quality of his play during the middle of the Big 10 schedule. Strangely, this resulted in less minutes and Dadika supplanted him as the fourth guard. Yesterday, he did not see the floor. I would assume he is a one and done which opens up a spot.

And certainly if another spot were needed, Bullock does not appear to be in the plans either.

I would NOT assume that Mensah is a one and done. He has one year of eligibility left, plus a redshirt which he would have to take if he transfers within D1. Where's he gonna go? IMO no D1 team will take him on a two-to-play-one basis. He'd have to transfer down to D2 or lower. This does happen, but not very often.

Seriously, do people think they’re managing a video game team here? The guy is French so I would guess he doesn’t have any absurd Hoop Dreams. I would bet he wants to finish his education at a great school like Rutgers and could care less about getting minutes at a D2 school. Why would he transfer or leave the program?

Agree. Of all the names floated, I think Mensah's the highest likelihood to return next year. I see him playing walk-on minutes in garbage time, but I don't see him leaving the team.

Bullock seems to be enjoying the game. It would be a shame if he didn't get to play somewhere in college. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this will be the place to do that. $$$$

sorry, Pike has to figure this out. Mr. Nice Guy needs to be put in the closet and we need to make the moves to get B1G quality athletes out on the floor. We're competing with corruption....time to get after it....my life clock is running short.
There is nothing for him to figure out. The rules have changed. Scholarships are now guaranteed for four years, period. Do you want to Pike to have Mensah do punishment drills every day until he finally quits - and then immediately tells the world about his experience? I would not recommend that, considering we are on probation.

Pike has one card to play - he can advise Doorson that he will not be invited back for a fifth year. Not saying he would or should, but he could.

EDIT: The four year guaranteed scholarship rule is a B1G rule. Not sure if other conferences have that constraint.

or just tell it like it is "you can stay on team, but you will not get any playing time; it is your choice."

It seems that Pike and Staff are doing everything they can to "advise" Souf that he is not in their plans. His minutes are scarce and when he does play - he's out in 1-2 minutes. It's a decision Souf is going to need to make.

The 4 year rule is a B1G rule but misinterpreted by many. If Mensah or Bullock had an ailment that prohibited them from playing basketball, they would get an academic scholarship and one would open up for basketball. I gotta believe that one or both of them have a severe case of plantar fasciitis the way they move on the court.

Ah yeah, That's exactly the figure it out part...not inclusive of your EXTREME example.

Of the three moves..keeping Shaq makes the most sense. Unless he's got a big guy ready to step in and back up.

I agree that Bullock and Doorson are more likely to leave than Mensah. At this point Souf needs to be focused on getting the best degree he can.

Mensah was given ample opportunity to prove his worth but he got his pocket picked way too often & rarely , if ever scored.

Frankly I felt more comfortable when Dadika was in there.

Bullock at least scored & rebounded. He also got in there & scrapped. If he stays I hope he steps up & contributes.

Didn’t they do that to Robby Benson in that movie “One on One” in the 70s?

Severe hangnail

Forced to retire and get that medical scholarship

All the way up with a red hot poker. [laughing]

A lot of good lines in that movie.

My favorite was... if you become an All-American they'll pay you to keep alligators out of the gym.
Many years ago I had a high school friend who played baseball at U ofVA. He got a room in the gym and athe job of turning the lights off at night. Another guy had job turning them on in AM
