Starting QB vs Michigan

It's time to give Uncle Rico a call.

Tough call. Think you gotta start Laviano, just don't think Oden is ready yet. Praying Oden has a good week of practice and is ready to confidently go out there and lead the team, but that is asking a lot out of a true freshman.

Will be Laviano because he can take a beating, and Michigan is gonna give us one

Oden right now worse than laviano
Not really....he runs much better and he may not be a great passer yet but Laviano struggles with completing a basic 5 yard out so what are we missing out on with Oden that Laviano gives us? 30 yards passing?

I missed most of the game. Can anyone give me an honest assessment on how down did? Obviously the 0-4 is disappointing but did he look like he belonged?

What the hell does this team have to gain from starting Laviano again? Someone please explain. He's been one of the worst QB's I've ever see play this game. Maybe I'm missing something here.

We know what Laviano's ceiling is

And is about as low as the bottom of the Grand Canyon

Are there even 10 lower rated quarterbacks in all of D1?

So what is the worst case scenario, we lose 33 yards passing ?

Ray Lucas will be starting. Come on guys you really have to ask this question? It is obvious after this game that Laviano is the best QB.

The offense with Oden looks better. His running ability is a plus. He throws a decent ball. I've seen a lot worse.

Laviano can't run or throw. Oden can run, and he fits this offense. Get him going.

Put Laviano in. Maybe this week we can get 4 completions.

In all seriousness, what's wrong with Gio? He played an ran for a stinkin touchdown. And he's not a twig like Oden. Why not give him the nod?

Gio comes in for two plays and runs for a TD on the second and is never seen again. If Oden is situational then how about seeing if someone else can throw the ball?

2 decent short throws that were dropped. 1 of those passes was defended well, the other ball was thrown slightly off target but should have been caught.

The other 2 passes were horrible. 1 was a long throw to nobody, the other was a short to medium throw where he skipped the ball to the receiver

He looks good running, but wasn't able to get much room with the Ohio St. defense.

I thought he looked a little timid out there, which is expected since he's a learning freshman. He doesn't have the UL Jackson swagger yet. I'm a little nervous he doesn't have the knowledge or confidence yet to be able to audible at the line like Laviano.

So this won't be a popular opinion but I just watched the first half after reading this board first. Labiano actually started the game well.

First drive is going well until a dumb double lateral is fumbled twice by Harris. Yet the next play on 2 and 27 he throws a perfect 1st down pass to Patton which is dropped. Punt.

2nd drive he struggles a bit on throws but doesn't have much time on both of them. Punt.

3rd drive they get a couple 1st downs but then laviano is sacked at midfield. There's 7 staying to block but once again sacked and has no time. Punt.

4th drive. Bad drive by laviano throwing it short on 3rd down. 3 and out.

5th drive. Oline does a horrible job run blocking on 1st and 2nd down. 3rd and long and incomplete. Harris drop but would've been short most likely.

6th drive horrible play calling. Predictable run on first and second down. Screen on 3rd that is easily sniffed by the d.

I'm not saying laviano is the answer and am in the put Oren in camp but he played a lot better than I was expecting. Especially with the reactions from posters. Mehringer is just as much to blame with the horrid play calling and the oline isn't helping him get time. WRs aren't getting separation. It's the offense as a whole. Laviano isn't the answer but no where near the only one to blame

Agree. Laviano looked good early on but faded fast due to poor O-Line play. If we can't get the QB more time it doesn't matter who we put back there. Maybe it's a case for Oden as he can escape and move around better. It truly is a mess.

He faded fast because that's who he is AND not great o line play.

Oden is a threat to run. Sorry to say but laviano is not a threat to do anything. I hope they're moving on from him.

I agree you start CL for Michigan but I would like to see Oden get extensive time if the game goes bad...

Laviano is probably the worst QB in the FBS. I don't care who practices best when it doesn't count. We have to make a move. If Odin is not our man, let's find that out on the playing field because it cannot be worse. Perhaps he is the man and then we can close strong. CL is even worse than he was last year if that is possible.

I think he actually is the worst QB statistically.

Oden, with an "e", is a true freshman and it clear that the staff likes him and are getting him ready to take over sooner than later.

Laviano is the flood of quarterbacks.
I've felt we'll see Odin or someone else starting vs Illinois.
Nothing has changed my mind thus far.
I get this offense doesn't fit Laviano but that doesn't matter. Put him back in pro set and we'd see same issues.
Caroo covered a lot of warts.

Looks like Oden's mom is on the boards again. What is it about this kid that has everyone on his nuts? And why does everyone keep making up excuses for CL? He hasn't delivered, period. How many more chances do you give him? Or TO? Hey, if it doesn't work, keep doing it! (The ash era)

Can someone please ban this douche?
