Starting QB vs Michigan

Why is it that no one can answer the question 'why hasn't Gio taken another snap since his touchdown?' Suddenly makes me a douche? But we can say that Oden is the only quarterback that should be taking snaps? TO has done nothing to prove himself, and CL has had plenty of chances. So why is Gio so invisible on this thread? This is a serious question.. The guy runs a touchdown on his second snap and disappears into obscurity. I don't get it.

Gio or Allen. We have all seen enough of Laviano. Oden is not ready.

Laviano should NEVER see the field again. Why wait to see "if the game gets out of hand"? Start Oden with a full playbook. If HE can't move the ball, bring in Gio, that gets out of hand.

It will not matter who you start because Jim Harbaugh will not let up like Coach Meyer did on Saturday.

Oden, with an "e", is a true freshman and it clear that the staff likes him and are getting him ready to take over sooner than later.
Exactly. Muschamp anointed true frosh Brandon McIlwain the starter and by the 2nd half yesterday benched him to play Orth. Why put that pressure on a true freshman? I think this staff is doing exactly the right thing for Oden's development.

Let's be honest, Oden has skills, but he's a matchstick. He's physically not ready to play. He will never last through the game having to take the hits required in this offense. He's needs to hit the weight room and add pounds.

Actions speak louder than words. I agree that TO has skills, but you're absolutely right, he's going to get hurt, it's inevitable. At 6'5 180 lbs running on chopsticks, one low hit from the side and his entire career could be over. He needs another year of eating meat potatoes and living in the weight room. Meanwhile, Gio is built like a freight train.. We haven't even had an opportunity to see him pass, but we've sure seen him run. It just doesn't add up why we haven't seen him since his crazy touchdown run for 42 yards.

Oden is getting experience and taking his lumps. But if you think the goal is to actually win this game, and that Oden will make that happen - you are crazy. We need to gdt Oden snaps but we don't need to destroy his confidence or get him hurt. Laviano will take the bearings the rest of the year and that will prob be the end if his tortured career as an RU starter. Maybe he can stay a scrappy leader for the team next year as Oden takes the reigns. But I don't see Oden starting Saturday nor should he. However it would be awesome if Oden started against some of the beatable teams late in the year and by the end if the season wins the job going into next year.. that would be ideal for the program.

I will add I want to see Gio start this week.

As for CL, even with the 2 decent passes he did throw, none of the WR's have the ability to catch. They either hear footsteps a stake their eye off the ball (I blame the receiver coach) or it bounces off their hands (I blame the receiver coach.) Either way, there's absolutely no excuse for continually playing CL. It's humiliating. At this point, and with this coach, Rutgers doesn't belong in the Big 10.

And again, no one can answer what Oden has done to prove he can be the starting QB for this team. It's like being in the twilight zone on this board.. 'Oden Oden Oden..' What has he done??! Nothing. In all the time he's had on the field this season, a couple 'decent' runs for no significant yrds, and one decent pass. That to me doesn't constitute our new starter.

Tortured career? What about the tortured fans who've had to watch his playing?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It's quite obvious Oden runs the read option the best on the team by far. He just needs to get the passing game where it needs to be and he will be starting.

I'll stick with my prediction that TO is starting the Illinois game. You can see the progression- a couple of series with no passes, then this past week he gets to throw the ball. Probably more of this again this week. But it would be too risky to throw TO to the wolve(rine)s this week.
