Stony Brook Game Thread

Why has it come to this? These issues have become endemic. My pessimistic side expected it. It's extremely disappointing to see that it hasn't been corrected. Are those early scrimmages our peak play?
We were playing differently in the scrimmages. They haven’t taken it to the games like expected. I also think there was some over confidence heading into the game which young teams can do.

Lacrosse is different now. You can’t just roll out there and expect to win because you’re a bigger team.

A bit of a nitpick, but the D still pressures after the offense has passed over the midfield line but before they set up around the restraining line when appropriate.

Boiled down, the defense needs fine tuning while the offense needs a serious fix.
Defense is playing well. Very well. They aren’t the issue.

Not to make excuses, but this was also a young team playing its 3rd game in a week.

Will just have to see how they do next Saturday.

With most.of the team seeing the field vs. LIU I don't see this. I think BOTH of the next two Saturdays will be important indicators.

With a young team it’s not just about seeing the field. It’s also about prep. It’s a lot to take in.

No excuses for the loss. The best thing is they learn from it and apply that to another victory.

That’s an excuse used by every Rutgers coach year in year out. I hope this team learns from this outing. But this loss is less on youth and more on bad scheme and horrible offensive coaching. Something that should have been addressed 2 years ago.

Actually I was thinking about not being fatigued from 3 games in 8 days. With a young team, I wonder if 4 lightning fast goals to open the game had an effect.

anyone paying attention saw this coming. the offense has been stale and stagnant for a couple of years. The defense is playing well and Stoller has been great but youth is no excuse for running some of these same kids out there. Watch the last 10 minutes again. SB just ran their defense and gave us nothing, maybe because our offense was predictable, but it is tough to run a fluid high-level D 1 offense when your attack is stationary. I will readily admit that I did not watch most of the game but at the end when we needed a goal our offense looked frazzled and SB defense looked comfortable, almost like they knew where the shots were going to come from. there is absolutely talent on the offensive side of the field hopefully they figure it out sooner rather than later.

I was thinking a win over Michigan. OSU didn't get off to a blazing start. Army will be tough, but Loyola will be a real measuring stick after their game vs Maryland.
Like any OT game, the Terps were fortunate to get the "W". Don't forget, Maryland had a nice run at the end last season, but the season overall was not stellar. Maybe a tight game against Maryland doesn't mean Loyola is a juggernaut...

Easily the game of the week at home against Cuse this weekend. And tbh I have no clue what to expect. MD is a 3 goal dog at home with a great goalie! That screams insanity…until u look at their common opponent in Loyola. Cuse trashed them but the unknown variable is “can Cuse win away from the dome against a top team?” So many great games this weekend.

Plus Loyola, so far, is having face off issues as well. No coast for Cuse at the FO spot.

Penn - Georgetown will be interesting.
