Gotta love the buzz around this program man. There is genuine excitement. The RAC rocked all season and it's only right we the alums and fans reward these kids by selling out the rest of the arena. Lets make it happen and send off Shaq to Chicago with a warm, THANK YOU

Wow. Color me shocked. Maybe the scintillating atmosphere at the Minny game -- and the exciting nature of the win -- is generating more student interest. Plus I'm sure there's the PSU factor too.

If they actually fill up all three sections (including crowding the pep band!), the atmosphere is going to be absolutely LIT.

I just wish we had this kind of coach and atmosphere with football man. There's genuine hope EVERY SINGLE GAME that we can beat anyone. It couldn't possibly be more opposite with the football program.

I've said with RU sports and football, we're not even looking for national championships necessarily, we're looking for hope. Football has been hopeless under Ash, and basketball has been on an upward trajectory with tangible improvement under pike. The hope is there. I'm going into next season hoping that we can make the tourney. And it's not blind hope, as I EXPECT us to be a bubble team

Also memo PAT Hobbs:

Do not fill the left side of the student section with non students! This is a weekday game, no reason to have giveaways or football recruits sitting there if the students have “sold out” a week early.

Also, if the 300 level doesn’t sell out, let the kids up there!

This is what I’d like to know: exactly WHAT comprises a “sold out” student ticket allotment.

Going back to the Waters years, I do believe there was a process where once the regular allotment of student tickets were gone, students could line up and get access in the 300's if seats available. I have sat in both 207 and 217 for the last 20 years. There were plenty of games where the students poured into 307 and 317.

Now if we could get get everyone to wear one singular color to the game, that would be great. I don't care which color it picked, just get everyone to wear it. When the fans wear the same color, it looks great on TV.

The color is scarlet red

I was saying that if Rutgers just puts a competitive product out there our fans will support it and rally behind it . Exhibit A is this years basketball team who is still under 500 but at least has hope , a plan . a coach who doesn’t make excuses , and team who battles . The fans want to get behind a team and will if you just show some promise .

I gave up my season tickets for football this year after 10 years because I don’t see any of the things I listed above .

That may be what the *walk up tickets is about but if so could have made it clearer.

If all tix not gone by Sunday then send an email blast to students..first come first served. Hell, put the bleachers back up behind 118.

Yeah, I'd like to know if the right side of the student section (where the pep band sits) is going to be filled.

For a weeknight game, I would guess it's going to students.

It shouldn’t matter. Those seats should be students UNTIL they don’t grab them up (IF the demand is there). Period. They can go on sale to the general public, say, 48-hours out.

Best marketing campaign ever from Rutgers, "and remember to wear Red to the game". Anytime they ran a promotion this was on it or said, it was on the tickets as well. It was simple yet resonated with fans, the effect. a sea of red during the Schiano years. They stopped doing it, now we get a kaleidoscope of the color spectrum.

THIS!! I love Sarah - and really like Hobbs - But I speak to her quite often via email, as well as in person, and brought this up to her a number of times but it’s the one topic she’s never responded to me about. I don’t get it, I really don’t, but it annoys the living daylights out of me when I see 50% of the people sitting in the 100s, - including the student section - not wearing red (with many of them not even wearing anything related to the school). Same for football it’s gotten worse and worse since Greg left and they stopy that campaign. “WEAR RED TO THE GAME” should be on every ticket, every flyer, every email, you name it.

I don’t know maybe they don’t find it to be politically correct ha ha Ha!

Not content on destroying the game day atmosphere at Rutgers Stadium, Chris Ash sets his sights on the RAC student section.

I don’t believe in a student section “sellout”. There’s always room for more. If they’re not standing in line with the tubas at the top of the band it’s jot enough tickets available! Bring back the stage in front where the DJ is and fill it with standing room students like they did last year. Cmon, someone in the AD HAS to see this! Stop selling 300s RIGHT NOW cuz PSU fans will buy, and list them as student tickets ! Hobbs where are you !!!

That is, if you can see them. Why do they dim the lights on the crowd? Compared to the way it used to be, you can barely see the student section. A packed student section used to be an awesome and intimidating thing to see.

Fair enough, but I’m not sure we are at that point yet. I would be ecstatic if this is a true student sell out already.

Yup, and so simple too.

Not until we remove Ash...which means another year of embarrassment in the stands next season, it is a shame that the school is not committed to competing in football

I’m willing to wait until the next hire to make that decision. Our group has gone from 25+ tix to maybe 8 since Greg left and most will jump right back in with a solid hire.

That is good to know and it aligns with the initial theme of this thread. Give RU fans any sign of hope, direction or competence and we’re all in. Best damn fans on the planet. Just give us something.

I’m assuming the dimness it’s to make all of the lighting, special effects and video boards that have been installed pop.

Another example of how changes to enhance the “fan experience” have taken away a bit from the college atmosphere. Watching that special segment on the student section from the Waters years someone posted the other day the lightning made it seem like the students and the whole crowd were on top of the players (not to mention they were about 5 rows closer to the basket).

Yeah, the lack of wearing red — especially by the students — makes me absolutely CRAZY. Contrast the Michigan crowd, where EVERYONE wears yellow.

There is ZERO reason for those bleachers being, what, 15-feet now from the court?? Absurd.

I feel at times there are too many annoucements that suck the life out during timeouts. For example every first timeout there is a commercial or a season ticket holder being honored...meh, I mean if the team is off to a good start you want the place pumped up, you dont want to actively try and quiet the crowd

Is it because they put those prime 1st row seats along that baseline? Don’t want students to be right up on those people I guess. In any event it is stupid...looks so bad on TV

Is it going to repeat the PSU game in 1989?
