Syracuse has 3 commits?

Dino was one of my favorite candidates for us as well. All things are not equal though...it is impossible to say how he would have done here. That said, I am very surprised by his apparent inability to recruit.

I just looked it up, according to a Tweet, Syracuse offered on (or about) June 2nd. So obviously, THAT is what pushes them to the front of the line. I mean, they've been in it for two whole weeks.
LMAO.

Flood was the best thing that happened to SU recruiting. Thank God he is gone.

Talking about those two schools (all the time) legitimizes them. They are both so far in the rear view mirror we can barely see them. Let them rot where they are.

mdk01, you're a good poster but you're becoming Flood's Tango Two on this board, are you suggesting everyone should pretend Flood never existed at Rutgers? Or are you suggesting no one should ever speak ill of Flood? Do you take the same stance with all ex RU coaches who were fired due to incompetence, like Rice or Jordan? Just trying to understand the motivation behind your obsession with everything Flood.

What I object to, in a single word, is overkill. The obsession, not mine but of others, to bash Flood on virtually every thread on this board. I've long ago moved on and am pulling for the success of the new coaching staff. There's simply no need to spend as much time dwelling on the past, and going to extreme lengths to do so, as looking to the future.

K. Glad you've done all that.

Some of us still enjoy bashing the incompetent buffoon.

Deal with it

Obsession goes both ways. I don't think there has been an overkill on Flood at all, his name is mentioned occasionally here and there especially in recruiting threads where he is often compared to measure the progress Ash and Co has made thus far, it's almost unavoidable really. On the other hand, when ever Flood is mentioned, we're pretty much certain that your beating the dead horse will surely follow, I was actually going to post that pic this morning when I first saw the Flood post. :) My suggestion is just let it be, his name will slowly fade as time goes on. If your goal is for everyone to move on, your constant badgering of other posters is having the exact opposite effect.

If it was just recruiting threads I wouldn't be doing it.

Beating on him is too easy. No significant coaching experience (never a coordinator (was co-OC)) before becoming a head coach. Other than Friedgen for one year, he did not have any really solid assistant coaches with outstanding coaching pedigrees. That explains 2014. He always gave the impression that he was treading water in the low end, and he did his best with what he had to work with, which was a limited resume and a limited coaching staff. Couple the mediocrity with the circus side show that was his AD and the Mike Rice incident, and recruits had more than enough reasons to cross Rutgers off their list. Now couple that with the on the field results (because of the inherent mediocrity), and recruits were running for the hills. It was any wonder his early classes started out so strong, and no surprise when they fell apart. But his overwhelming redeeming feature was that he was perceived as a very nice guy, and the players gave every appearance of loving to play for the guy. I've said before, I don't think it does any good to cast stones at your current coach and players on an internet message board.

Turn the page. We have a head coach with a stellar coaching pedigree. SEC experience, B1G experience, worked under two outstanding head coaches in Bilema and Meyer. His staff is stacked with coaches having similarly strong pedigrees. He has an AD behind him who has been a total home run and going far beyond repairing the damage done in the last 3-4 years. I don't see it as a fair basis of comparison. It's like putting a grandma in the ring against Mike Tyson in his prime. It's a boring comparison. It's over. It has been over for more than 6 months. Many of us have moved on. Look to the blue skies ahead, not back at the flood and other damage.

Agree, but from a different angle.

No objections to Flood bashing, now and ad infinitum. However, if it's unoriginal, redundant, or worst of all *boring*, please spare us and just go complain to your cat.

Syracuse is behind us in the dominoes falling scenarios. Once things get solidified with the OSU's, then our class fills out, then they will compete with Pittsburgh and Boston College for the next tier of kids.

Amazing what Ash has accomplished. It's almost like we're now in the top tier with many dominoes falling first to us. Hope he and his team can keep it up...forever!

On the Flood front, I've tried not to bash him. But compared to all the Schiano bashing and supporting that went on for years, it is asking a lot to expect silence a half year after his firing, especially considering how his roster will continue to impact the program for years to come. I think it will be a long time before his name is no longer mentioned and in fact, if the team struggles expect a lot more bashing for the talent gap as people defend Ash. Hoping it doesn't come to that...

I don't necessarily understand our obsession with Syracuse but Flood use to be our coach so it's not unreasonable to constantly bring him up. I'm sure everyone moved on from him the day he was fired but he's a part of Rutgers history so his name isn't going anywhere anytime soon I'd imagine even though some understandably cringe at his mere mention.

This flood bashing thing here started when I posted that the best thing that happened to SU recruiting was Flood. I really wasn't bashing Flood, although I certainly see how it reads that way, as much as I was bashing Cuse for being in such bad shape that they need a Flood type coach at RU in order to recruit with us. Sorry to start the whole Flood thing, twas not my intent.

Can only speak for myself, I don't cringe at his name being mentioned. I believe he is a good man, that the players liked. I also believe he was in over his head, and had a stubborn streak.

I wish him well, I'm just happy he isn't our coach anymore.

Might have just started on this thread but flood bashing never really ended after he was sent on his way. Not that I care either way, I'm just saying it might be unreasonable to expect everyone to stop bringing up the former head coach after his failed tenure.

I want to forget his failed tenure, does that count?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What kind of person gets his "jollies" from belittling other human beings, coaches or anyone else?

We're grieving. It's a process.
