Syracuse has 3 commits?

Flood goes and order is restored in the recruiting universe. Basically what 99% were screaming for three years.

Flood was our head coach just 6 months ago. He is still fresh on our minds and his name should come up in a lot of threads. Shoot, Schiano still comes up in multiple threads and he's been gone for 4 plus years.

What is Babers doing over there?

I'll put it this way,

  1. Syracuse is in the middle of no where. Maryland is closer to NYC than Syracuse.
  2. ACC football blows
  3. The Dome sucks
  4. They can't even cheat like the used to in recruiting
  5. They south is desegretated and they can't advertise themselves as a school to play for minorities anymore.
  6. Orange is a ugly color

If those tards over on syracusefan.com think Eddie Lewis is theirs because he has one guy going to cuse he's friends with (devito), they better raise their heads from the maw of their own assholes and realize he has about 6-8 friends currently committed to Rutgers in this class. I can't wait until they are miserable and realize all they're getting from NJ is devito, the leftover qb they got when we passed in order to lock up johnathan Lewis, the more physically imposing qb with the much higher ceiling.

I figured you would have a ton of friends here after this post.

Wait but according to them Ash was only a co-coordinator at OSU. Yeah, they claim Luke Fickell is the brains behind the D in Columbus. So we are screwed:(

Syracuse article on Lewis

"The SU staff will need to work hard to attain a commitment from Lewis; Baber’s pitch may not be enough. Right now, Boston College and North Carolina are also pushing for the New Jersey native. Communication from coaches will be a key factor in Lewis’ collegiate decision."

Love how the writer purposely leaves out Rutgers completely after their board claimed Hunt's article was a Rutgers piece and questioned Hunt's integrity as a reporter. :joy:

To borrow a quote from a '70's movie called The Gumball Rally. "The first rule in Italian driving. What's behind you is not important."
Now throw that rearview mirror out the back!

I agree it is only natural to bring up Flood because he was the last coach and who else would we compare Ash to. The contrast between the two of them is night and day as Ash doesn't let anything slip through the cracks and Flood let everything slip through. I cannot believe Ash was able to recruit NJ as successfully as he has had so far based on Flood's alienation of the state

One would think with all of your decommits lately, that you wouldn't be talking about rankings in June.

Different coach. You just love to live in the past.

Look on the bright side. You don't have any commits so losing them is unlikely.

There should be a book on how to become irrelevant in a decade. Syracuse would be exhibit A.

Good luck finishing ahead of Tulsa and Eastern Michigan.

Yes so let's look at recruiting as that's initial impression. Something is rotten so far as recruits are staying away... is it the school or the coach?

Both. Even their AD got out of there as soon as his press conference ended. Tells you all you need to know about what is going on in that wasteland.

Yeah. The decommitts of which you speak occurred three years ago when:
1. We were coming off the Mike Rice/Tim Pernetti scandal
2. We replaced Pernetti with Julie and had to endure all her PR snafus and most importantly
3. Kyle Flood was our head coach with a non-BCS level staff of assistants.

The decommitts in 2016 were understandable due to a coaching change and the 2017 class that is shaping up would wipe the field with a class of the 2016 decommitts. But you guys can still hold out hope for decommitts even though you "don't care about Rutgers" Now, can one or two players change their mind between now and February? Sure. It happens EVERYWHERE. Will it be 10-12 players like three years ago? Absolutely doubtful with this staff.

If you look into the comments on the syracusefan recruiting board, almost EVERY kid they write about is leaning towards or WILL commit to Syracuse. Also, good catch to someone on the article where they fail to mention Rutgers. Those guys went off on several posts about Todd not mentioning them in his article and then the SU writer does the thing they said they don't do. Funny stuff writes itself

Good luck battling it out with Indiana for the basement every year.

ANOTHER CUSE THREAD @Caliknight @BoogieKnight ? I say this once a week. You guys are hilarious. "We are so past SU" but all people do is talk about them. I get it, mocking another team makes you feel better about yourselves. Thats why there's a large Rutgers thread over there. Its a shame people here don't want to admit that. Now, I didnt see any thread started when SU forced Shafer's commits out and replaced them with better prospects. They did so well that they past Rutgers in the rankings. Both teams had their coaches fired. If Babers is capable of closing a class like that then what makes you question the amount of commits he has now? He knows what he's doing and has a plan, He has some good recruiters on his staff. I think Ash is doing one hell of a job for this class. I wont discredit him for not having a good close on the 2016 class because I knew he had to build relationship and sell his plan to the prospects.

Syracuse gets what recruits they can, but Syracuse isn't a rival anymore
on the field or recruiting.
Syracuse and BC can worry about each others recruiting , but both schools should be off our radar and I think nothing their fans say about Rutgers should be considered important.
edit ( forgot to add F-em both )

Your absolutely right but they compete for the same kids in recruiting and thats why there's a certain level of interest. BC competes with Rutgers for private school prospects. Pitt is now getting back into NJ and flips some of your commits last year. So no matter what conference they are in these teams are going after the same kids Rutgers are

It is far more rewarding and beneficial to battle it out in the B1G then it is to kick Sorrycuse's ass every year. Think about that for a minute.

Enjoy battling it out with lol Wake Forest, every year. Get the rabbit ears right, maybe you can catch it on the ocho.

200 more of these types of posts and we might be at your level.

I've never personally claimed Syracuse is in our rear view nor have I disparaged Babers or their recruiting. Me personally at least. Long way to go until February for both schools but predicting a mass exodus of decommitts from RU "based on the recent past" is a bit irrational considering we have not only an entirely new coaching staff but also different leadership in our athletic department. Also, and this helps, the luster of JAmes Franklin in NJ has worn off a bit since 2014 and he was getting in a lot of our commits ears. Ash may not be Saban or Meyer but he's not Kyle Flood either. Syracuse fans claim Ash is a "defense first meathead" just like Schafer and I think that's selling CA a bit short. If Ash starts mentioning ISIS in press conferences come back and we'll talk lol.

I am disparaging their recruiting. I just looked at it. It's a p5 joke. New coaches build excitement. If Ash's first full year was this far behind, we'd be freaking out, and rightfully so. This is the honeymoon period.

Hey, we just landed another stud!

Actually RU and Syracuse aren't like they were years ago going after NJ HS Talent
2015 might be the exception to the rule when the Orange nabbed 4 from Jersey
but raiding Jersey for talent ended a long time ago for your Orange and 2015 I'll blame more on Flood than Syracuse making a comeback
( As the saying goes: When in doubt > blame Flood [winking] )

You guys talk about the ending of SU raiding Jersey recruits like you should get some trophy for that. So what, you doing what you suppose to do. Its your state. Now start winning with all that talent. SU never relied on Jersey players alone. They plucked Penn, Conn and DMV just as much.

Like your not battling it out with Indiana and Maryland for 4th place?

Just talking about what was happening in the past when Syracuse could compete for talent.
No one said Rutgers deserves a medal for recruiting better at home, just saying Syracuse hasn't been able to poach in Jersey like they used to.
But they probably are having the same trouble in other States ( including their own) because the Orange aren't a winning program any more and haven't been for a long time

But admit other programs are poaching talent , though Ash is showing more fight than the previous RU HC did.
Flood's teams weren't considered good ones, but were considered better than Syracuse by the end of the season.
But that's nothing to brag about [roll]
