Syracuse has 3 commits?

Just talking about what was happening in the past when Syracuse could compete for talent.
No one said Rutgers deserves a medal for recruiting better at home, just saying Syracuse hasn't been able to poach in Jersey like they used to.
But they probably are having the same trouble in other States ( including their own) because the Orange aren't a winning program any more and haven't been for a long time

But admit other programs are poaching talent , though Ash is showing more fight than the previous RU HC did.
Flood's teams weren't considered good ones, but were considered better than Syracuse by the end of the season.
But that's nothing to brag about [roll]
Cuse have been non existing in NJ for along time honestly. Its not news anymore. BTW Cuse lost their starting QB 2 years in a row. 2014 season was the worse injury played season in history. Last year the defense suck along with playing a true freshman Qb along with a walk on juco. But yeah, you guys were better I guess.

Like your not battling it out with Indiana and Maryland for 4th place?

Again, battling it out with those teams is far better than beating up on you. WF is your rival, along with their high school stadium.

But seriously, 3 commits? Is your coach even trying? You must be coming to a quick realization.

Don't start acting cocky just because Syracuse moved from 6th in 2014(1-7) to 5th ( 2-6) for 2015 in the ACC Atlantic standings.
Syracuse really hasn't been a respected program since PP left.
Rutgers gained the respect your Orange lost when Schiano was RU's HC, but now Ash must gain that respect back.
Doubt Barbers will be able to bring Syracuse back to its former glory and Syracuse fans will have to settle for bragging about the past while facing a limited future
You guys rely on football success. People don't rely on football success in Cuse. Too busy getting to mens final 4's. Women's hoops national title game. lacrosse ACC championships, Women's lacrosse final 4. Men's soccer final 4. National titles in Track and Field Hockey. You guys would kill for a year like that. Your still trying to be competitive in other sports.

who is Rutgers rival? Dont say penn st lol you have to win before it becomes a rival. That Indiana series seem to be pretty wild. I like that one. BTW we haven't lost to WF yet.

Well, its a football message board..so we are talking football. Agree, that's one heck of a year. But football is king in college sports.

Syracuse fans like to turn the talk towards MBB from their FB team and I understand why:
School hasn't been relevant in football since their HC PP left.
Marrone seemed to be starting to make the Orange a decent program, but left as soon as he had a chance.
Funny how Syracuse supporters are acting a bit cocky on this RU board because their FB program moved up from 2014's 6th place in the ACC Atlantic Division ( 3-9 total 1-7 conference) and came in 5th in the Atlantic in 2016 with a 2-6 conference record ( 4-8 season)
But guess with the limited future Syracuse FB has and they know the past will never retuen, moving from 6th to 5th is a big deal to Syracuse fans posting on this board and when the talk gets tough, move conversation to basketball.
Guess that's a good idea for them because RU MBB is comparable to Orange FB.[winking]

What I object to, in a single word, is overkill. The obsession, not mine but of others, to bash Flood on virtually every thread on this board. I've long ago moved on and am pulling for the success of the new coaching staff. There's simply no need to spend as much time dwelling on the past, and going to extreme lengths to do so, as looking to the future.
Why don't you let people discuss what they feel like and if you don't like it you can just get the hell out of here.

You guys talk about the ending of SU raiding Jersey recruits like you should get some trophy for that. So what, you doing what you suppose to do. Its your state. Now start winning with all that talent. SU never relied on Jersey players alone. They plucked Penn, Conn and DMV just as much.
How about a trophy for killing you in NY also?

Death threats has no place on a message board.

Anyone is better than you. Seriously, it doesn't matter which B1G team it is. They all swim in the big pond. It's really fun being in a real conference. So much better than associating with the Syracuse's and Uconn's of the world. Real schools with real fan bases, not glorified high schools with tracks around their fields. What great fortune Rutgers has.

Smack talk is better when it isn't taken personally.
That said, can't say I'd root for the Orange, don't care enough about them one way or another anymore.
But feel the same non passion about most other College FB programs .
Have only a few I dislike enough to care enough to hope they lose and a few that I like enough to root for.
Syracuse fell off my radar awhile back ago.

The reason Cuse only has 3 recruits so far is that Syracuse has to wait for the leftovers from other states. Reviewing their 2016 class, they have no one from the Northeast region. No one from NY state or New Jersey. Out of the 21 recruits, 12 are from Big Ten country like Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Pa. 7 of the recruits are from Florida. The other 2 recruits are from NC and Ca. Really strange to have no recruits from your own state, New York.

Not strange at all. There's nornally 4 or 5 NYS prospects each year that are ranked high and have offers from big time programs. Those kids wont go to SU until they win. They remaining 10 to 15 or mild recruits that SU dont normally want. Marrone took some developmental players through his years and it worked out. People like Chandler, Bromley, Reddis,h Hunt were players that Cuse could have passed on. Baber is taking a wait and see approach. He definielty dont repsect the talent he sees in NY. Cuse has to rely on other states. Just like schools like Nebraska, Wisconsin, Washington, Boise st etc.. Now Jersey is loaded with talent. I just wish Rutgers record would start ti show from that. There shouldnt have been competing for the Big East title each year and atleast be 500 in the Big ten east. Really no excuse with all that Jersey talent.

Really happy for Rutgers that they are in the Big Ten. Its good for NorthEast football but the 1st 10 years in the Big East you guys started being "REAL"competitve. Not like yall was tearing up. 6-3 since 2005 against those awful huskies.

The excuse is called Coach Flood! Maybe the worst recruiter ever. I knew he was a terrible coach the first year. It took 3-4 years before everyone came to the realization of his skills or non skills. Ash has amazed everyone already by turning the recruiting around just in 1 season. Ash is starting where Schiano left off and appears to be ready to improve on his record.

We have improved in other sports.Obviously not to the level Cuse had this year and clearly our men's bball program is a joke, but men's and women's soccer was good, LAX was good, track team had some great individual efforts, etc. Wrestling team was awesome this year. Just like Syracuse we are getting up and running in a brand new conference. We have an AD who has only been on the job for 6 months. Things are trending well just need to be patient.

I agree. I think Ash is what you guys needed. he will do well. Greg Robinson is Flood x's 2. You guys use Flood and Shea as excuses. People here dont want to acknowledge that G Rob was one of the worse hires of college football history. He was exactly what Cuse couldnt have at the time. Marrone got it back was taking it back to the 90's but he left. Babers is the real deal. I liked Shafer as a person but I never thought he was going to succeed as the head coach. I was right

It's amazing that the coach has that much affect on he program. I think you may also have the right coach Barbers if he stays for at least a couple of years.

I think in the future Rutgers will be battling Penn State, Michigan State and Maryland for 3rd and 4th place in the big Ten East. It will take a long time before we can beat Ohio State or Michigan due to their recruiting,

Agree, but from a different angle.

No objections to Flood bashing, now and ad infinitum. However, if it's unoriginal, redundant, or worst of all *boring*, please spare us and just go complain to your cat.
:smiley:What makes you assume that he's a cat person?

And resources. That's a huge piece of it.

Might have just started on this thread but flood bashing never really ended after he was sent on his way. Not that I care either way, I'm just saying it might be unreasonable to expect everyone to stop bringing up the former head coach after his failed tenure.
I think every Rutgers fans knows about Flood but I don't even know that Cuse, Boston College, Penn State, Pitt fans and othe Big Ten teams realize how Flood has negatively affected the team. I see their boards and all say we are doing better recruiting but they all expect them to decommit when we start losing. Do they even know we have a new Head coach? The recruits are aware it's not going to be a great 2016 on the field.

Resources is huge Cali right up there with coaching and players since to get the players and coaches and facilities you need resources $$$$.

It's all about resources. That is the baseline if you want to win NC, and to truly be competitive with OSU, that means we will be hunting for national championships. Sports are great because anything can happen and lightening in a bottle strikes often, but to be consistent in this game, you need resources. Lots and lots of resources.

One day we will get there hopefully, but there is a gap to bridge between where we are and the elite of the elite.

This pond is so much more fun and where we belong as a university and all that it encompasses. Its the big league in every way.

It is far more rewarding and beneficial to battle it out in the B1G then it is to kick Sorrycuse's ass every year. Think about that for a minute.

Enjoy battling it out with lol Wake Forest, every year. Get the rabbit ears right, maybe you can catch it on the ocho.

How much money will you be seeing?

From where we are now? It remains to be seen. Estimates have member schools receiving $40-$55MM. Whatever it is will be the highest payouts of any conference. That is a guarantee.

Still though, the gaps with OSU/Michigan will be there due to the support they get from their fan base. We need to continue to grow in that area to close the gap. The conference pay outs though alone will have us in rarefied air. Most exciting is we have a guy at the helm in Hobbs who totally gets it.

Dropped even further. Now 79, just above Appalachian State or something.

It's a joke class and leaves serious questions about Babers.
