Syracuse targeting Jersey players

It’s a fact that Schiano says he needs a new football facility. Hope this helps.

“Eventually, do we have to get a new building yet? We do, but right now, that isn’t my focus.”
Eventually. But not this year, Al.

Why don't you ask Greg what he would prefer people prioritize with donations, NIL funding or a fieldhouse? And if he says both, ask him which is more important right now.

We’ve already been over this. NIL is the priority but the Fieldhouse is also needed.

We need all the luck we can get can get:

  • Ohio State
  • Oregon
  • Penn State
  • Maryland
  • Minnesota
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Washington

If we title this “Rutgers targets NY players” is that OK? Because Schiano has done pretty well in NY. Of course Cuse wants to target NJ because we have a lot of talent and it’s within 4 hours. Duh.

With a possible 9-3 record, bowl participation, and a brand new fieldhouse, they’ll have more to offer prospective recruits, than ever before. This will likely impact our recruiting.

Not sure why you are fixated on Cuse. We get it you want a field house. BC, Maryland, Penn St and Army all D-1 programs within the same radius. Do you worry about them as well?

Al this article should be comforting to you.
Fran Brown is a well liked coach who will turn that program around. The ACC has a nice cushy schedule for Syracuse which dosen’t hurt.
With all the changes coming with bigger tv contracts ( greater revenues) and more exposure for Big Ten schools. Coupled with the uncertainty and diminishing revenue for ACC schools. Fran Brown and Cuse should not be a threat to RU. If he is successful he will probably move on.
As far as the Football facility that has to come to fruition. To play in this league you need every bell and whistle available to compete.
With projected revenues north of $100 mill per school (next contract) they have to get it done. While they are at it, maybe they can build a new basketball/ hockey arena too!

Our NIL is years away from where it needs to be.
Stop with the nonsense Fieldhouse talk. That’s at least 10 years away.

We’re making $75mill per year just from media rights from the BIG.
Next contract it could be $100mill.
If all donor money is going to NIL,the school is going to have to find a way to finance and fund it.
It’s pertinent to be on a level playing field with our competitors.
The football facility and the basketball arena could be two of the biggest challenges to face our new President and AD.
They have to get it done.

Our NIL will NEVER be where it needs to be because people don’t want to pay players. They will donate to a Fieldhouse, however.

Losing Pat happened at the worst possible time. Both projects need to get done.

Fran Bown who was born/grew up in Camden, coached at Temple/Rutgers, and recruited for at least four schools in New Jersey wiil now recruit for Syracuse in New Jersey?!?!? That's ground breaking!
While Al has not earned being given a break, on this one, give him a break. Fran Brown was hired BECAUSE Syracuse saw its best years were when they basically split New Jersey talent with Penn State and Notre Dame way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth... before national recruiting was a thing for EVERYONE. Syracuse wanted to return to what once worked for them so they hired Fran Brown.

They had lost influence in New Jersey when they fired Paul Pasqualoni.. again, back when T-Rex walked the earth. They want it back.

Too bad.. they cannot have it.

Syracuse fans are now talking about Fran and his staff making mistakes for being first year coaches with no experience as many here have mentioned. Getting one of the top QB from the portal and getting only 1-2 more wins from previous seasons doesn’t seem to be worth it. Syracuse fans aren’t happy just like Rutgers fans. They realize they have a much harder schedule next season and they blew the chance this season.

They’re in the ACC! They’re on easy street. They’re going bowling, and they have a new Fieldhouse and NIL support.

We have no fieldhouse, not enough NIL, and play Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Washington, and Iowa next year which have awesome Fieldhouses and significant NIL. Our challenge is a lot more difficult.

The Stadium and Hale Center plus bubble and many practice fields is equal to a field house. Adding a field house.. for us.. just isn't that important. I mean, other than a checklist item.. what would it ADD to the setup we already have? Can we practice indoors.. YES. Do we have an ample weight room, etc.. YES.

I think maybe wes should go down a list of what Syracuse fieldhouse gives them that is new to them and figure out what features we do not already have. Fieldhouse is a fancy name for things we already have.

Should Rutgers be in the ACC?
It was widely believed being in the Big Ten was a huge advantage over being in the ACC.
Regardless of anything else.

You seem to be implying being in the Big Ten isn't nearly as advantageous and perhaps being in the ACC is a bigger advantage?

Haven't we won like 5 games in a row against the ACC? Syracuse qualifying for a bowl in that disaster of a conference is not newsworthy.

It’s important for recruiting, which is why Oregon is expanding theirs, USC is building a brand new one, Maryland and Syracuse built a brand new one, and Penn State spent $50M to upgrade theirs and $700M on Stadium renovations.

Ours is going to be built eventually. The designs are done. Now money will need to be raised for construction.

We’re in the Big Ten to stay, but we would have been more competitive in football in the ACC, since those programs aren’t as well capitalized as our Big Ten opponents.

Give Al a break for coming on our RUTGERS forum and telling us about Brown's ground breaking recruiting strategy? Is it really relevant to post that Fran Brown is targeting his home state/back yard for recruits? Even worse, he has not secured one top 20 NJ player!!

Yes. Bottom tier B1G teams would compete for Acc championships.

Mid to upper level B1G would all destroy that league. Miami just lost to GT who is at best, below average.

Miami got Cristoballed. That guy will never, ever win big there. One of the worst coaches I've personally followed. He's terrible during the week and on game day.

He's very lucky he's been at places that recruit themselves, save that low level job he had in Fla.

Acc won't even be a league in the not too distant future. A handful of teams will be B1G/Sec and the rest will be relegated to the trash heap.

It couldn't be more obvious. Syracuse is not one of those teams.

My post was specific and did not suggest what you implied.

We would have more 7-9 win seasons if we were in the ACC. Yes, we beat all The ACC teams we played in the last 3-5 years.

We use to be considered the worst football in college and made fun of nationally. We changed that and are in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten. We beat Michigan State, Michigan, Minnesota, Purdue, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana and Washington over the years. We thought we could beat UCLA and USC which other middle of the pack team beat. Yes, we never beat Penn State, Ohio State and Oregon which are considered top of the conference. We still have to beat Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska but they are I guess upper tier. It’s not easy to move to the top of the conference but if we get lucky we can do an Indiana.

Well we have yet to play Oregon: they've been dodging us for years!

I cant imagine the NIL money at Syracuse will last forever either. They were able to raise the money this year because the “ace “ recruiter said he needed it to compete. The results were/are mediocre at best. They didn’t win big with McCord. I can’t imagine they will have much luck attracting a similar candidate next year at the same or similar price point.

This was their chance at making a splash and competing in another ACC down year. They didn’t. Next.

Brown readily admitted post BC game that he and his defensive staff had no ideas what adjustments to make in- game to stem the crushing BC running attack which accumulated over 320 yards. Not exactly instilling confidence in their coaching abilities to the team and recruits alike.

His press conferences are pretty cringe worthy at times too. For example, following BC he stated that he doesn’t use soap or take a shower following a loss even though he sweats profusely through numerous baseball caps per game nor does he sleep with his wife on those evenings - lol

Until someone figures out a way to get out of the grant of rights and does it, none of this means anything.
