There's no question we need a guy like that," Kill, the newly hired offensive coordinator, said Wednesday afternoon at the Hale Center. "We need playmakers. That's the first thing.

"We need guys that can run. You watch Clemson and the quarterback is pretty good, but I could throw to (receivers who are) 6-foot-3, 210 (pounds). We need those type of guys, and we can't afford to lose any playmakers right now."

Why new Rutgers coaches are instant upgrade Kill said he has not spoken to Grant -- who returned home to Florida during the break between semesters --

what ever happened with his appeal for RS? never saw a status.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Monday. Rutgers players begin winter strength and conditioning workouts Tuesday.

That's what I'm saying. He isn't an underclassman so Monday is meaningless. Don't think he'd work out with the team if the 5th yr hasn't been awarded and he decides to stay.

Why can't he enroll and decide later? He's a SR. Doesn't need to declare "early".

If you have eligibility remaining, you have to declare. I guess he could have just not filed for the medical hardship for last year, but he is listed on the updated roster for 2017 on scarletknights.com

Coming off the injury AND he's probably a free agent after the draft at best due to attributes no way in hell he leaves....

Apparently the weight training starts on either Monday or Tuesday so if he is returning I assume he will be there is some capacity. So I think we should know something next week.

Whatever he decided I just hope he can secure an NFL contract when it's all said and done.

Until/unless Grant's hardship waiver is granted, he has no more eligibility and is in the draft - he would have no need to declare.

SO... I assume he has his waiver in hand... but does anyone know that?

In Grant's case the medical hardship was a foregone conclusion based upon his number of games played plus he had a redshirt year left...the B1G in these cases normally has been quite proactive in terms of allowing this type of hardship filing ... so unless something strange has occurred in the past several weeks.... if Grant leaves... it will because he himself wanted to go and test the waters or move onto a different program... here's to hoping he stays but as has been our past history we don't usually fare well...

Not to bring everybody down, but has anyone considered that he could be a grad transfer if he gets his 5th year? I'd hate to see that, but it's possible.

Will he graduate this May? Criminal Justice major... not sure what you'd look for at a new school that Rutgers does not offer in grad school. Rutgers was ranked 14th for Masters in Criminal Justice. If he wanted to return to Florida and join a team with more upside, Fla State was a masters program.
