Terrible day for RU football fans

To see Wisconsin get Wisky-D^ck in the 2nd half was not good.

Then, I see here that Shirley Temple won their conference, even if it's a lower level one.
I told you all 4 or 5 years ago that Flood was a moron telling Walker he would be recruited to play DB at RU instead of QB. And RU was Walker's preference while at Elizabeth.

Only saving graces were Washington and Clemson winning to keep Pen St out of the playoffs.

Yeah, it's rough having seen PSU come back last night against Wisky and win the B1G at the same time we became a national joke again. Our administration was slow to grasp the importance of investing in athletics (e.g., instructing Pernetti to cut $1mm/year in spending). It looks like a lesson learned and we have more support and guidance to right the ship, but it feels like going to a 20-year reunion, we're Fat Bastard, and our arch-enemy turns out to be Brad Pitt. The inmates were running the asylum for the three years prior to Ash, and I expect a turnaround, but being in the B1G East makes the disparity so much more obvious. And of course we're opening against a playoff team to start the season.

We played WU about the same as Colorado did.
We played better. Colorado was dominated. We gave up 3 big plays including a punt or KO return. Doesn't change the fact that the final score was embarrassing. More concerning is that we did not seem to get better as the year wore on. Yes, we lost Grant and Lambert in game 3 or 4, but we ended the season looking very bad. Let's hope for a better year next year.

Navy was playing without their starting QB and biggest run threat yesterday. Without their top 2 playmakers they just weren't competitive.

Re: Walker, damned if you do, damned if you don't . Don't remember the whole story, but he could have chosen to come to RU to compete for the QB job. And let's be real. We already had Laviano as a commit, who was a 3 star recruit (Rivals) with a P5 offer from Maryland, while Walker was a Rivals 2-star recruit with no other P5 offers. Hindsight is 20/20 when you want to make your case, but our resident star-tards and lack of P5 offer-tards would have been snorting at and criticizing an offer to Walker--maybe not everyone, but it would have probably not gotten rave reviews and made an example of Flood's poor recruiting class.

The coaches at ru were very high on Laviano and thought he was going to be a stud.

Laviono wasn't horrible last year. But that's mainly because he had Carroo. In a Power Spread, he was the worst QB I've seen in my entire life. He's the worst QB I've seen since Cubit.

This wallowing in self pity threads are getting tiresome.

I think it was a terrible day for Wisci fans. One yard. One yard and they most likely send the game into overtime. Imagine if that was us holy hell

I get a definite satisfaction in knowing that despite winning the Big Ten championship that team will not be going to the playoff round. The Big Ten championship was a consolation prize this year.

And they raised prices for everything lol.

Ash is a waste of time. Get Schiano back. At least you will see a bowl game in our lifetime.

We weren't looking for a qb that could run. We wanted a qb that could pass and run the pro-set. They thought CL was the guy and it didn't turn out that way. Even if we had a good pro-set qb, it might have gone the same way with the spread. We had 6 guys and nobody could step up. Temple has players we wish we had at this point.

If Anthony Russo lights it up in future years at Temple, I really don't want to hear the segment that will play the should have, would have could have game. He did not fit the offense Ash wants to run, the same way Walker did not fit what we were running at the time.

Some day, we will get our chance in the spotlight to shine. Better days are ahead.

Oh my Sweet Summer Child.

And just an FYI

I am and Eagles fan - they have never won a SB
I am a Phillies fan - despite a couple of WS in the last 30 years they are the only pro franchise to have 10,000+ loses in their history (That averages out to 100 losses a year for 100 years)
I'm a Flyers fan - nothing but a sniff once since Bobby Clarke was a kid.
Sixers - meh - "We owe you one" - Julius Erving -- never paid that debt.

Rutgers fits right in.

Sigh.

Hire Matt Rhule after next season. Proven winner as a head coach. Knows the region well.
Didn't some on this board say the same thing about the Golden child when they wanted him as the RU FB HC.
And Little Steve A had some preaching the Gospel of Addazio while claiming he would be RU's savior if he was hired.

Walker was right in our back yard and what most people stream about on this board a Jersey player who wants to stay home and rep his state. I don't care how many offers he had, all you had to do was look at his film and his winNing recordr to know that he could play QB for us. No we playedhard ball and he goes to Temple and starts from day 1.

Wonder what the reaction will be if/ when Russo turns into a star at Temple or if Dare lights it up somewhere else. Will Ash get a pass? Or should the experts armed with after the fact knowledge come back and crow about how Ash blew it? Remember, Dare was the number 12 recruit in the state, something that people scream about on this board, but it does not matter in this case because Flood recruited him.
Hindsight is 20/20 unless it does not fit the agenda, in which case it is blind.

The only reason I am aware that Temple even played in a game yesterday is because of this board
Same here.

And with the title of the OP I thought we got kicked out of the B1G. LOL

I can think of 10 days this Fall that were MUCH worse than Saturday.

Nice to see we have lot more women posting now. I like it.

The situation with Dare is very unfortunate because he wanted to come to RU all along, for 10 years. It was where he wanted to be to represent NJ. Assuming he wasn't a fit for the new system and the CS evaluation was correct, it's in his best interest to go elsewhere.
If he ends up going somewhere and they don't run a true pro set and he excels than it might raise questions. But that will probably be a few years from now and our qb situation will be on the right track.
I hope it ends up well for all concerned.

PSU guy. ARe you putting football first?

PS. EVERY coach at Temple since 2004 knew about Cosby and did nothing. 10 years later he was still giving commencement and still being honored today.

mmmm--let's see win an AAC title every other year or be a BIG member--you guys overreact constantly

With what we have been through that is the only really tragic thing that could happen to us. And despite the Haters, it ain't happening.

Even if we don't go to the Bronx!
