Great meeting as
lways. Eddie answered some questions on recruiting strategy, as well as how the team is playing in practice. Great praise for Nigel Johnson who I think is helping to make an impact in practice.
Diallo has been playing great and could be a starter.
Mike Williams has supposedly found his 3 point range ov
er the summer which would be a very good thing for this team.
Eddie feels that either Freeman, Corey, or Mike could lead us in scoring on any given night.
Jerry spoke about his thoughts on seeing practice and immediately started with a story about Corey shaking a defender and hitting Freeman in the post for a reverse layup. Feels that those two will determine how much success RU has on the court although he didn't want to pile on 2 guys.
Jerry also spoke about how the press is perceived negative towards RU, and defended the APP as being fair (I agree, Jerry is the most fair of all the beat writers).
A member wished Jerry's mother well as she is supposedly not feeling well, so I pass those sentiments along as well. He mentioned that Eddie advised him that he could make himself available whenever Jerry was available if he needed an interview and asked how he could help. He noted that is rare in this industry.
He talked about how SHU has a lot of talent, but they are not buying in, whereas he feels the RU team will buy in to Eddie, and that this year and next year will show if the players are on board. He noted Kadeem and Miles were great kids and players, but that it is always tough coaching players which you did not recruit, so Eddie finally has his team.
He also noted that it would be nice to have more open dialogue with the university/AD as these relationships are important.
