The College Basketball Crown? Unfortunately, it sure looks like these are some sadly relevant questions after Maryland...

Re: the New Postseason NCAA tournament for non-NCAA-tourny-bid teams (16 teams, Las Vegas, March 31-April 6)

Would RU accept a bid?

Should RU accept a bid?

Would Dylan and Ace sit it out?

Would you go if Dylan and Ace agreed to play?

Top 2 in Big Ten that don’t make ncaa have to accept.
Same with Big East and Big 12.

No idea if Dylan and Ace will opt out.

Would RU accept a bid? - YES

Should RU accept a bid? - YES

Would Dylan and Ace sit it out? - NO, they love playing basketball and wouldn't be that concerned that an injury would sabotage their pro career. Even if they have some injury that saddles them for a month or two, their stock as top 5 lottery picks won't be impacted.

Would you go if Dylan and Ace agreed to play? - No but I'll watch on TV

Ace and Dylan would almost certainly skip that tourney. No point in risking injury at that point. The second that we finish our final game of the season those two should be preparing for the draft.

I would think a possibility would be Pike advises them not to play.

You guys don't seem to appreciate that Dylan and Ace are not only elite talents but elite competitors. They will jump at the opportunity to atone for this season and leave something positive for their Rutgers legacy.

Barring a miracle in the BTT, you do realize this will be considered most disappointing season in Rutgers sports history ?

That seems like a rosy assessment. Couldn't the same be said for all the athletes in so many sports that DO skip such events?

Even though injury rates rates per game are very low, most athletes, especially ones poised to make millions just a month or two later, choose the cautious path despite the odds.

I'd love to see them play if this scenario happens, but I'd be surprised...

Should we accept a bid? Absolutely, who are we, Rutgers, to turn our nose in the air to invites to anything involving the postseason. It’s not like we have a rich postseason history, accept the bid and play.

Dylan and Ace both play.

You could be right. How would you answer this if it were the NIT? And if yes, what's the difference between this tournament and the NIT? Because it seems like some fans have a different answer for the different tournaments...

exactly and to showcase their skills in Vegas in front of a ton of scouts....believe me it will not be about defense

I think Rutgers should play in either the NIT or Vegas tourney. Vegas I think is more fun and attractive for the players. We are Rutgers, we should accept any postseason invite. Just like we should accept any bowl invitation for football. Until we elevate to some higher levels with more sustained success, we should accept any opportunity to play more. I am always going to watch RU Basketball or Football as a diehard and a grad, so I always welcome watching more Rutgers sports. True masochism at its worst, I know, but I think many on here always want to see our teams play more as opposed to not playing or less.

Remember that the College Basketball Crown tournament will pay the players.

Marinate on that and you might end up in the same place I am...I actually think there will come a time when players like Ace, Dylan, Derek Queen, etc. will prefer to turn down the NCAA tournament in favor of going to the Crown.

They need to practice, need to play, need to improve. Continuing to work with the team and playing in a competitive tournament would be good preparation for the draft.

More than likely they would play.
In my opinion :
Not playing might have some NBA teams feel they put themselves before the team.
Football being a contact sport has NFL programs feel different where minor bowl games are concerned

Is this confirmed

The team accepts the NCAA bid, not the player.

Not seeing how a one-and-done player would dictate what’s best for the team, when that team’s future does not include them.

If that were to happen, the NCAA would open up their wallets in some way to compensate them. It's not like they are the most proactive bunch of folk.....
