The Quincy Porter reference is interesting. If your point is the goal is to somehow be OSU - even a Porter-type recruit won't cut it if you go by Rivals ratings. It's a pretty pedestrian year for OSU standards at the WR position - with just two recruits at 5.8 and 5.9 (both from NJ incidentally). Normally they are pulling in 1 if not multiple 5 stars at the position (Smith-Njigba, Egbuka Garrett Wilson etc and that doesn't even include Harrison).

Every Big 10 program we recruit against has nice facilities. Every program we recruit against also provides strong NIL. We aren’t outbidding anyone for a recruit, so we need to offer recruits facilities which are on par with the competition.

Of course, I’m talking about Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Maryland.

Everything is important. Oregons geography puts them at a big disadvantage. Our geography puts us at a big advantage. We haven’t been able to capitalize because we haven’t had the support. Now everything is in place. Facilities are the only component that’s missing.

The staff we have is good enough to do what we need to do. Now it’s time to augment our facilities.

Yes , facilities are a B1G part of successful recruiting. It is a show point of a highly touted program. The only question remaining then is how long does it take to build this monument and would NJ contribute to this project ? Can our play on the field be sustained over the next 4-5 years. I know Greg wants it very much personally but realistically I can’t see it ready for at minimum 5-6 years from now. Will Schiano even be the HC in say 2030? Maybe becomes our AD? Spending 150 million and up is only doable with large numbers of multiple donors. We have some of those we just don’t have enough at this point. It would be nice to have as many other schools do now. It allows you that competitive recruiting edge. With Schiano in charge it would be a game changer.

What should matter and what would matter to me is when Schiano was humming in recruiting the 2006-2007 rosters at one time had 25-29? Players who at least played in the NFL preseason and 18-20 players who played in the NFL

Until we run an offense he can’t stop.

Because just like 2008, we will once again have a potent passing attack. The past four years we were working with severe talent limitations across the board. That won’t be the case this year, as our best WRs will be coming off the bench to get quality reps.

Facilities DO matter. Perhaps not in a manner they may have 10 years ago, but they do. A recruit with a shot in hell at the NFL still wants to go to a place where his development can be maximized. This is where a higher-end field house and physical development apparatus can distinguish equally capable NIL programs from each other. From that stand point, we are behind peers.
