I was against the hire , and not impressed the first season . Should have been canned year 2 . But after the Michigan win last year I thought for a brief moment the guy could make it here . Then reality set in .
I will say that I thought that after Indiana, MD, and UNC last year IF he could bring in a decent (top 35 or better) recruiting class, that he might be able to turn things around. Not championship level - but 7- 8 regular season wins and more competitive games against the top of the conference as we build depth. But he isnt, and his recruiting just isnt going to ever to be at the level needed for him to sustain success here.I was against the hire , and not impressed the first season . When the class fell apart, it was never going to happen for himWhen we had that killer class committed. Then that fell apart quickly in the most epic of epic fails.
However, I gave him chances, lots of chances, but any hope that he would ever turn things around end this season. Now Rutgers needs to move on.
As far back as coming from behind twice to beat WSU. The fact that the team seemed so resilient. Beating a good Navy team on the road after the heartbreak of PSU. Coming off the 3 blowouts to win 3 of 4 at the end. All this gave me a lot of hope.[/QUOTE
Much the same for me.
