THE OFFICIAL 2016 RUTGERS FOOTBALL SEASON PREDICTION THREAD

September 3: at WASHINGTON L
September 10: HOWARD W
September 17: NEW MEXICO L
September 24: IOWA L
October 1: at OHIO STATE L
October 8: MICHIGAN L
October 15: ILLINOIS W
October 22: at MINNESOTA L
November 5: INDIANA L
November 12: at MICHIGAN STATE L
November 19: PENN STATE W
November 26: at MARYLAND W

Final record: 4-8
Big 10 record: 3-6

Some horrible loses in there I know, just don't trust this offense with Laviano, although I do think we'll end the season on a good note.

To have a decent year RU needs to hold serve against Howard, Illinois, Indiana, New Mexico, and Maryland and find a win from one of PSU and Minny. Anything else will be gravy with the schedule so tough. So somewhere between 5-7 and 7-5.

Of course things can change after this weekend and every weekend after that. Not only for RU but most teams on the schedule.

I like the way our schedule sets up because our three toughest opponents are on the road (WASH, OSU, MICH ST.). We would most likely lose those games anyway so playing on the road is fine. Iowa and Minn. are probable losses as well but i think we keep it close. Our more evenly matched opponents of Indiana, Illinois and New Mexico are at home so the home field advantage puts us over on them. I've got Maryland as a win as well. So in my world, the key between 5-7 and 7-5 comes down to Michigan and Ped state which are both at home. I think we beat Ped State and finish at 6-6.

Washington (W)
Howard (W)
New Mexico (W)
Iowa (L)
Ohio State (L)
Michigan (L)
Illinois (W)
Minnesota (W)
Indiana (W)
Michigan State (L)
Penn State (?)
Maryland (?)
We win either Penn State or Maryland, not both

W/L: 7-5

Washington L
Howard W
New Mexico W
Iowa L
OSU L
Michigan L
Illinois W
Minnesota W
Indiana W
MSU L
Penn State W
Maryland W

7-5 No Blowouts

Ok, I'll say it; 15-0 B1G Champs and National Football Champions!!!;):pray:
True Fan Cabana Man, almost everyone else seems to be a bunch of bandwagon, wannabees. As the Mad Hatter stated, and I'm paraphrasing, to think of any defeats is kin to preparing for losing. As opposed to preparing to win, if we are not optimistic about potential then we shouldn't call ourselves fans. I don't think this team is planning on losing to any teams on the schedule, who are we to argue.
Go RU!

You're right : predicting a loss is preparing to lose and I'll add ( in my opinion) : giving up the hope Rutgers will pull off an upset by predicting Rutgers will lose.
The closest I come to saying Rutgers will lose is : winning that game might be next to impossible," But Upsets Happen" and I'm hoping for one so I won't predict a loss against ( school's name here).

Let others look at things in what can be claimed as a realistic outlook, I prefer an optimistic one even if some claim a win against some schools are impossible and I'm being unrealistic to think there's a chance to win that game.

This is enlightening. Not one comment back then about the abysmal talent level KF left behind which has become the common theme as the season unfolds.

Don't think that was factored in to those who predicated a losing season, which is most people?

This thread wasn't about talent. It was about record. It isn't a surprise people wouldn't get into the talent level. Though you can by those predicting a losing record see what little most thought we have.

Still have hope of pulling out some wins and still refuse to say RU will lose to ( name).
But only will say hope Rutgers wins because that's all there is the way RU looks this season.
Seems like any win Rutgers is able to pull off from now on will be considered an upset and upsets happen, but shouldn't be expected.

I'd love to be "pie-in-the-sky," however, our complete lack of experience at LB, the obvious issues and indecision at QB, and the injuries to 2 key members of the D, keep me from doing so:

@ Wash L 41-20
Howard W 49-6
New Mexico W 27-24
Iowa L 38-17
@ OSU L 35-10
Michigan L 42-6
@ Minn L 20-17
Illinois W (breaking the 4-year Flood HC dumpster fire series) 27-24
@ MSU L 27-10
Indiana L 28-24
PSU W (this is an "upset"..don't say "well if we can beat them why can't we beat ....?") 20-17
@ Maryland L 20-10 unfortunately we come down following the huge home "W"

Final Record 4-7
Did you predict Rutgers would cancel one game?,lol, I know, it's right there, you had them at 4-8, it's just a math issue,I get it Nuts.

In retrospect, Alan Greenspan could have called this thread out for irrational exuberance.

Unless I missed it,not one person had us going 2-10. That's coming from a fan base that's usually on the negative side when it comes to predictions. That says a lot about how disappointing this season has been for all of us.

Wow. Was so caught up in the Michigan - Ohio state game that I forgot we played. Looks like I didn't miss anything. I predicted 4 wins. I remember I was torn between 3 or 4 and went optimistic.

I didn't expect much and I was still disappointed since I dont think we improved. In fact, I think we went backwards.

Someone please start a 2017 prediction thread. Make sure to include schedule if possible. Thank you.

LOL, nice try, I'd stick to predicting weather #'s,something your very good at. Lets hope next season is a lot better, as this year truly sucked.

lol, just having some fun. Actually, I thought I had predicted 4-8 in this thread - it's what I had thought before the season, but I don't see it posted - maybe it's in some other thread. I really thought we'd find 2 other wins in the B1G and we really did come close, but couldn't quite get it done. Next season better be better or the lynch mob will be out in full force.

I counted 36 predictions. RU posters predicted a median of 6 wins and an average of 5.58 wins.I left out wishy-washy prediction where, for example, someone predicted a range (ie, 5 to 7 wins) and only counted the 12 regular season games. No one predicted less than 3 wins. Only two predicted 3 wins. Here's the breakdown:

3 wins => 2
4 wins => 6
5 wins => 9
6 wins => 10
7 wins => 8
8 wins => 0
9 wins => 0
10 wins => 1

Yup,good breakdown Moose. When I went back to look, it was a real eye opener to say the least. Expectations were a lot higher than what we saw this season.

I avoid making predictions in these threads because it is way too hard to figure for us..... when we had Nova you could figure a couple wins, here and there.... our game is too unpredictable starting with the qb.

For those who had predicted four or so wins, we may have gotten there with Grant healthy.
