Football The Official 2025 Rutgers Football schedule

Are you kidding? It’s horrible. 6 wins! Where are you gonna get a 7th win? Illinois or MN on the road?

9 bowl teams
3 playoff teams
4 MN, WA, PU, IL on road

It’s awful….6 win ceiling built it

9 bowl teams… the ONLY good thing is that OSU and Creep State are last

I guess that’s the point…6 wins is all we can reasonably hope for…there is no 7th win on the schedule. If we get unlucky, we can be looking at 4-8.
You seem like a barrel of fun.

All I’m saying is that this schedule is brutal!! Lots of tough games (9 bowl teams) and most of our tossup games are on the road! This is a very bad schedule, except OSU and Creep are last. If we can beat Iowa at home…

Ok but are you expecting “easy” schedules every year in the B1G? Just not gonna happen.

There is enough winnable games . The rallying cry and goal will be get to the Bronx .
Keep the pinstripe dream alive , in 2025
What do you think is realistic record? My guesses below.
I was thinking 8 possibly 9
First 6 ( upset Iowa with home-cooking) and Washington not the power it used to be
Road win at Purdue and the Illili lose at their house because the team just isn't playing like it did in 2023.
Then Maryland finds the Jersey crabs to tough for their Chesapeake liking and the Turtles leave with their shell broken.
That's a best case scenario being realistic.
But I never am so add upsetting Penn State at home and send them back to Happy Valley in a bad mood.

Hell I go completely nuts ( not are you nuts , he has a stalker I don't want looking my way 🤓)
by saying Greg will lead the Scarlet Knights to victory over the Buckeyes in Columbus and OSU fans will Day rue the Day they hired Ryan instead of Schiano.
You and I think alike on this.
Eternal optimist in me says 9.
Pessimist says 6.
Would be OK with 7-5, mildly disappointed by 6-6 (but would depend on the extent of the losses), and thrilled with anything better than 7-5.
First glance without knowing players returning or leaving for any program I say 5-9 wins. O/U set at 5.5 is my guess. MAYBE 6.5
You can't do 5-9!! Throwing a penalty flag on this. But see above, 6-9 is perfectly OK. 😂

We should just declare war on the state of Ohio.
Just because they have a city named Miami in an otherwise cold, boring and depressing midwestern state. Using Miami in that state is sacrilege. But Miami of OH is a very beautiful campus and great public school. My better half finished her Master's courses there.

Once the spring is over I will make my final prediction. My gut feeling, and gutsy one, is 8 regular season wins.

The Offense will certainly be the driver for the Program next season IMO. We certainly haven’t said that for a number of years. Based on that alone we should get to 6 wins. If can add some top players at the DL and Secondary positions in the Transfer Portal we have a good chance to get to 8 wins .

Even the optimist in me realizes it will be an uphill battle. There are no "easy wins" with the B1G. Even with Purdue. But if we lose Purdue, I will lose my mind. (what's left of it). 😂

There are no easy wins and I think the teams from 5-17 are all pretty equally talented. There is a lot of parity, so we could finish with 4 wins or 9.

Like I say it's very difficult to project from year to year, especially with the amount of change that happens.

UNLV was 5-7/3-5 the year before Odom got there and the previous coach was 7-23/5-17 in his 3 year tenure.

In the 2 years after, Odom won 9 and 10 games and made the MWC title game both years.

We see what Cignetti was able to do in 1 year and Dillingham in 2 years at ASU so its possible for Odom to get them at least decent in 1 year, who knows.

The potential outcomes for many schools really runs gamut of outcomes which is a good thing. Any team can have hope going into a given season.

They beat MN handily. They would have beaten Illinois if not for the coaching double brain fart. It's not like those are automatic losses.
This. That one inexplicably unbelievable OT call kept us from playing in the Citrus Bowl. And would have generated post season Bowl enthusiasm on this Board resulting in thousands of more RU fans making the trip. With the pieces falling in place for the Defense on the transfer portal we are a minimum 8 win team next season.

Yeah, you not thinkin’ too good. 6 is the max, and we might only get 4.

Don’t strain yourself, why don’t you just take a break, a little rest, and come back for 2026.

You make it like Illinois and Minnesota are hard places to play.

They are! B1G road games are all hard! If we win 3 non-conf (not a gimme), we split the four B1G road games and beat MD, we still would need beat one of OSU, O, Creep or IA to get to 7. (And, we ain’t beating OSU, O, Creep). If we can get to 4-0 with a win over Iowa at home, then maybe we can get to 7.

I never said we’d win 7 but if we don’t it won’t be because we have to play in 2 different 3/4 filled stadiums

you need to be more optimistic. With our loaded Offense 6 wins is the floor. More upside.. THINK BIG

Can't avoid the big guys every year. Actually think we have a decent chance to go 6-0 before facing Oregon. And still have Illinois, Maryland and Purdue in the back half of schedule. I'm fine with it and looking forward to next year with having a good passing offense with AK and the receiver group.

6-0 is very optimistic with Iowa, Minny away and Wash away. 4-2 is the most likely outcome when facing Oregon. Good thing is Purdue is right after them so could be 5-3 or maybe 6-2 and still have chances against Maryland and Illinois.

I'm putting this out there because some doubters need to know:

I looked at the first 5 games, and Rutgers has a real chance to go 5-0. Ohio lost their HC, QB, RB, 3 OL, and top 2 receivers. They do return 7 starters on defense. Overall, this team will be far from what they've been the last 3 years. Continuity will be an issue for the Bobcats. Miami, OH, like Ohio, got crushed on offense with 7 starters gone. They lose QB, RB, TE, 2 OL, and 2 receivers. Their defense will be without 5 of their front 7 (3 DL & 2 LB). Another starting CB is in the portal. We should be fine against them. There is no need to mention Norfolk State. Iowa, like Wisconsin, is struggling to find its footing now that the divisions don't exist. It's funny how teams like Rutgers and Indiana took a step forward while the old west teams struggled to adjust. Iowa will continue to have a strong defense as long as the DC is there. The offense, on the other hand, continues to get worse. Their best QB is in the portal and the RB is off to the NFL. I like our chances at home against a team in flux. Minnesota is the one team I am nervous about, but we match up well against them. The transfer QB is the x-factor. Illinois, Purdue, and Maryland give Rutgers a chance to increase the win total. I see 6 wins as the floor and up to 8 wins possible.
