The OFFICIAL RU-tOSU Game Thread

How the hell did they get a fresh 30 on that sequence?

Not having Sanders here at end of half is a good learning experience for the rest of the team, but dangerous to going down 10+ at half.

We are playing terrible and only down 6 at the half on the road. Not bad.

By the way I thought Tate walked when he got the ball underneath their own basket.

Huge sequence, getting that bucket at the end after the great defense - only down 33-27 at the half isn't bad, especially with 4 of that difference being at the line, as they're 5-5 and we're 1-5 (including a missed front end).

nice swing there.....33-27...could have gone down 10 so that was huge. RU is within range, didnt play particularly bad or good, just what it is for our team offensively but if we step it up defensively we can hang with them and who knows

33-27 half time, Ohio State leads.Sanders on the bench down the stretch because of 2 fouls hindered Rutgers offense.

I'm pretty happy being down 6 all things considered. For ONCE it feels like the other team has been much better yet we're still hanging around. How many 1st halves this year have we said we should be up by 15 and it was only like 6?
About as many games where FT shooting was the difference. Cost us a few wins

That's what (our) good defense and (our) bad FT-shooting will do to one's perception. It looks like we are playing much worse than we are. We also have no shooters from outside, so our shots seem to be more of the desperation sort than than they are. We do get some good buckets, but our ugliness beyond the arc makes it seem worse.

This game should be a little closer. Twice in the last few minutes Ohio State scored on plays where they traveled before putting the ball on the floor to get to the hoop. Another time the Ohio State player received the ball with his foot on the endline. The player made his move to the hoop for and one play.

They just showed the Freeman block in the highlights – – how could they miss that?

Refs just hate us. They don't realize it...but we are almost always on the losing end of any judgment or 50/50 call

Guaranteed.

Fact.
I don't know about that, but once we start winning I think we get more calls than we do now. Jordan and Bird got away with a lot of shit because it was assumed they were just playing good ball.

Pretty good half on the road. Refs missed some calls. Need to do a better job of interior defense. The outside shots that OSU have been hitting will even out. I love watching this team, and it's cool to see the way coach uses so much of his bench. That will pay huge dividends long term.

We gave away 4 points on the foul line and 2 points on an offensive goaltending.

Yep. I've said that for years. When I say refs hate us I'm not saying that because we are Rutgers. Teams that are bad get hated by refs. That's all. It's not personal.

But it does happen.

Nothing irritates me more than people who say it all balances out. Crazy talk.

We need a couple of buckets to start the half to take the crowd out of it and keep us mentally in it.

RU 12/26 46% 2-9 from 3 1-5 FT
OSU 13/28 46% 2-6 from 3 5-5 FT

Key difference is this game is that OSU is winning the battle of the boards 20-12...RU isnt going to win if they do not reverse this.

big stop at end of half.....first 3 possessions of 2nd half have been troublesome in recent games, but they need to be sharp with Gettys back on
