I think its a bad matchup and they can defend, going to need 50 combined from ace/dylan to win....for RU to win this game needs to be in the uppers 70s and 80s rangeWow, that's probably more than the point spread will be. Bad matchup in your opinion with the size advantage they will have at the basket?
I was hoping they would win @OSU and come in overconfident. But instead worst case scenario, losing a heartbreaker. Maryland will have energy on Sunday.
Agreed with this spread. This is a bad match up even for a healthy RU. MD's two 6'-10" bigs lead their offense and we have no depth at center. Expect them to pound the ball inside. MD 80 - RU 70Maryland 75 RUTGERS 67
My daughter goes to UMD so I've watched a fair amount of their games. The guy that worries me is Gillespie. If we try to pack the interior to contend with Queen and Reese, Gillespie will torch us. We're going to have to rotate a lot of guys and maintain defensive pressure. If I’m Willard, I pound the ball inside to Queen and to Reese.
Somerville / Dortch and Martini will not be able to defend them.
This is my concern. Reese and Queen are a mismatch for sure, but their three guards/wings can light it up from outside. Gillespie, Rice, and Miguel have combined to hit 145 threes out of 365 attempts (spread about equally among them) for an average of 39.7%.people just talk about their bigs, but their PG from Belmont is a stud and shoots 41% from three in-conference

Motivating locker room speech: now looking like we are getting passed the point where we risked getting shut out of the B1G tournament; and with lots of ranked opponents in rest of schedule; so we have an opportunity to keep winning to work our way back into NCAA tourny conversation; and that is certainly possible. But we must start today.
A challenge for sure Phil, but we did pretty well against UM with their two bigs and we could have (maybe should have) won that game even without Dylan. With Dylan at near full strength we have a decent chance to pull the upset, imo.If I’m Willard, I pound the ball inside to Queen and to Reese.

This is the best defensive team we will have played this yearThis is my concern. Reese and Queen are a mismatch for sure, but their three guards/wings can light it up from outside. Gillespie, Rice, and Miguel have combined to hit 145 threes out of 365 attempts (spread about equally among them) for an average of 39.7%.
MD shoots 48.1% from the field overall, and 37% as a team from 3-pt range, and their five starters average between 15.0 and 11.3 ppg, so any one of them can kill us. So it's the "inside-out" aspect of their team that really scares me, because if we try and double the post, we open things up from beyond the arc and they can start raining threes.
MD also plays very good defense, giving up an average of 65.87 ppg overall, and 71.92 in Big Ten games.

Just need J-Will or Acuff to go ballistic and score, they seem to be the third wheel for RutgersRutgers has the two best players but Maryland has more scoring threats.Maryland runs a far better half court offense. Both teams are mediocre 3 point shooters and have difficulty putting teams away because of scoring droughts.I agree that Bailey and Harper need to score at least 50 points.Rutgers needs to limit scoring within 3' of the basket.I expect plenty fouls to be called.
This definitely is a must win for Rutgers but the team lacks a consistent third scoring threat .
