THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-MARYLAND PREDICTION THREAD

Not sure what the records are over the years but it feels like Pike owns Willard a bit.

I'd imagine they'll have a decent crowd and will make it tough, but we've won at tough places already this year in Nebraska and Northwestern.

We're one of the better teams ATS with a rest advantage this season, and Maryland is one of the worst teams with a rest disadvantage.

I dont love the matchups, and I don't love them coming home after a loss, but a healthier Rutgers finds a way to get it done.

Maryland 67
Rutgers 68

Just win. I want a scene at the RAC on Wednesday.

I feel Pike's outperformed the talent vs Willard, but I think the W/L number is pretty even. I do agree though, Willard is fairly similar to Pike and isn't going to crush us through great offensive sets, which usually is where we have issues. Kind of a team that out talents the others, which is the type I think this Rutgers squad can do a solid job against. Pretty interested in the fan turnout for this one, early Sunday game on Super Bowl Day and coming off a loss., but they're still highly ranked and theres a chance the place fills up but I wouldn't be surprised if its a bit sleepy there.

Maybe the weather there will be as crummy as predicted here and it will be even more sleepy.

That's big

Is there another injury for RU ?

That’s just the reality of where we are and the quality of this MD team. Folks see 1 win and ignore the glaring deficiencies of this team.

This can be a buzz saw kind of game with how well they play D

MD 76
RU 61

Don’t disagree.

BUT…

Maryland hasn’t played defense against a team with two of the top 3 lottery picks. Michigan was able to stifle our offense by swarming Ace, but they knew they could do that because Dylan was in street clothes. I’m trying to remember if there’s been a game this year when our offense struggled with both Ace and Dylan healthy.

That aside, this might be a game where we get Clown Shoes Ace Bailey. Ace is a matchup nightmare for Maryland, as neither of their bigs (Queen and Reese) can guard him on the perimeter, and their three starting guards/wings are 6-1, 6-4, and 6-4, making it very easy for him to just elevate and shoot over them. We might see more of Tafara Gapare (6-9) who is a key reserve, or Deshawn Harris-Smith (6-5 but a tough defender), or Jordan Geronimo (6-6) coming off the bench to guard Ace. But that’s a good thing, as it would take one of MD’s better scorers off the floor.

I still see a MD victory here, but I would not be at all surprised if we get the win.
