Basketball Rutgers Basketball fends off Minnesota 75-67 in OT

Why does it take the heart attack me de for these guys to wake up and Dylan to understand he needs to take over?
Thank you for pulling that out.
Now we have an opportunity to get a win in the tournament.

Derkack has potential if he could be more consistent and eliminate some of the bonehead plays
He doesn’t know his limitations, very problematic and very Jeremiah Williams like. Both players try and do far too much compared to their actual abilities. Both think they are the main character in the movie when they’re just a character actor with a minor part in the movie.

But he's consistent with boned headed plays no?
I really like how hard he plays. He could be really really good for us if he cut some of that crap out.
For a guy on the bench lately he did add a good bit of value today.

For all the coaching geniuses out there, he took the TO to make sure Harper takes the ball to the basket and not settle for a 3, which he’s done before. Unfortunately he coughed it up.

I’d rather he shoot the 3 and I think Harper himself would have learned not to take it

Pike sure did his best to lose this game. Horrible rotation management and idiotic timeout with 7 seconds left in regulation.

I like pike but he sure did shit the bed this year.
Thank You Pike for that idiotic T/O with 7 seconds....I was in PA and able to plop $500 on RU. On fanduel. Pulled over for gas and checked score 61-59 with like 20secs figured I lost.

Of course figured playing a sorry ass team at home we would have beat them by 15

We have faced many opponents who eorked at getting their best players shots.. while Rutgers players.. including the best.. seemed to avoid this. Sometimes greedily.. Dercack and Williams.. but sometimes just not having it as a priority. Coaches allowed this to continue all season long.

Williams seemed to fluctuate between his turn to shoot and he may as well just throw it away because it was notbhis turn to shoot. Dercack’s self-created rep for holding onto the ball caused Harper to look for the outlet.. realize Dercack had it.. and give up on getting the pass quickly.. Dercack could not be counted on to make the outlet there.

Its the end of the season and we have no specific 5 we want on the floor at the same time. We have a 2.. maybe 3 with Somerville. Even Grant has been suspect of late.

In past years I believe that the seniors would start the game and then if applicable be subbed for at the 1st opportunity

That would have been the right thing to do
If they have been here a few years I completely agree. A one year player who we paid to be here ? I’m ok with him not playing but would have been a nice gesture but not a big deal IMO

Meh. Just trying to salvage some dignity as this awful season comes to a close. Can’t believe Pike f’ed up this year.

The ball was in play. Harper had the ball in his hands and his last 5 shots were all off the dribble and around the rim many times drawing contact. It was already the ideal situation. Dylan in the transition game is the advantage you want. No need to allow the 5 defenders on the floor time to set up. Scramble is what you want. No need for a timeout. If he was to call a timeout it had to happen before inbounding the ball. The disadvantage Pike created by delaying the timeout post inbounds has many considerations.
  • Now ball is inbounded on sideline without the ability to run the baseline off of made basket. Making it considerably more difficult.
  • Also allows the defense to set up and create their best match up.
  • Allows for substitution.
  • Needlessly took seconds off the clock.
  • Went from primary/secondary break/transition basketball to easily defended offensive set.
