THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-OHIO STATE PREDICTION THREAD

Being a complete homer but long drives by OSU will result in FGs to go along with 2 OSU turnovers resulting in a 31-30 win for RU. We storm the field and the national embarrassment from earlier this season is gone as we cement out biggest win in school history and pretty much lock up a bowl birth. I can dream can't I ?

Key to the game is our running game and how well we contain their running game/read option

Final Score: Ohio - 45 Rutgers - 35

On a side note, do students know that this a big game? Most of the people I talked to aren't really aware...unlike last time when the Michigan game was all the buzz

of course the students know, they will be loud and packed the entire game. No concern.

OSU: 48 RU: 20 . Worried about the health and well being of the secondary.

Reality sets in as we start playing teams with GREAT D's (OSU #19, Wisconsin #7, Michigan #2...as opposed to IU's which was 105th headed into our game last week...) and O's we won't be able to stop our D is 105th nationally). We get an early score, HPSS is going bananas for a while, but once the smoke settles this one isn't close, unfortunately:

OSU 49
RU 10

I say this is 21-17 (OSU up) at the half, but we get worn down in the second half. Final 48-23.

It will be 27 all, late in the fourth quarter and national TV audience starts thinking the upset might happen. Then OSU gets a big play TD, followed by a TD off a RU turnover during a rushed two minute drill to win comfortably. Final will be 41-27 OSU but it won't reflect how close the game was.

Ohio State 45-Rutgers 10

First of three straight games where Rutgers will be manhandled at the line of scrimmage. It comes down to coaching and talent and in the B1G against top tier opponents there is no place to hide.

I never post in these threads. "Real" fans cannot pick against their team because fanatics lack objectivity. I will not offer a final score prediction, but will post how I expect the game will go.

RU will either lead or be in the game at halftime. That is consistent with how OSU has played this season, excluding their games vs Western Michigan (OSU led 24-6 at the half) and Penn State (21-3). The halftime scores in their other 5 games were Virginia Tech 17-14, led Hawaii 14-0, tied with Northern Illinois 10-10, Indiana 10-6, and led Maryland 21-14. That's 2-2-1 if games were decided by the halftime score. How RU plays in the 2nd half will determine the outcome of this game (win, close loss, blowout loss). RU needs to tackle better to win. Gause and Turray had Sudfeld for sacks in the first half, but he escaped and made the play to keep their TD scoring drive alive. Cioffi has great ball skills, but tackles like a CB. He needs to wrap up against guys like Elliott.

Upsets happen, now's the time for a B1G one
RU 32
OSU 30
Rutgers blocks 23 yd FG attempt with 3 seconds left in game[banana]

Rutgers 31 (Laviano last drive of the game with 56 seconds on the clock hits a long TD to....)
tosu 28

Ohio State 51, Rutgers 31 in front of a huge enthusiastic crowd.

The fans will be there and Rutgers will have their best performance of the year but Ohio State will be too much in the end (too many NFL caliber players).

I've seen different answers in different threads but do we know the announcers yet?

Before 53,819....

Federico at the gun from 53 into the south end zone goal post

Rutgers 38
Ohio state 35

if you expect we will get blown out try not to be all pissy if we do

if you are talking to me, if we keep things fairly reasonable and yes 25 points is reasonable to me then I don't have too much of a problem with this game. Its scores of 52-7 that would be a concern to me. The most important thing is to compete and not be in awe. Also I don't necessarily judge RU against the elite of the league, moreso how they do against the schools in their vicinity like PSU, Indiana, Maryland, and Nebby

I think we keep it close in the 1st half 21-13 as we play with a lot of emotion. Then we wear down and it gets out of control.

OSU 38
Rutgers 13

tOSU: 48
RU: 21

...But would absolutely love to be wrong and have the Knights somehow post a "W".
