I'm thinking they don't have an answer for Cliff.
They don't. Cliff will feast and they will forced to constantly double team. Should lead to plenty of open 3's. If we have a good shooting night 80+ is possibleI'm thinking they don't have an answer for Cliff.
They got a lot of easy 3s last year because Tosin was such a problem for other teams with the ball in his hands, and teams frequently collapsed on him, leaving multiple players open on the perimeter. Not happening this year . . .Dangerous opening game, I don’t care if Princeton lost their top two scorers from last year (Tosan and Langborg).
Princeton’s top three returning scorers — G Matt Allocco (6-4, 197), F Caden Pierce (6-7, 220), G Blake Peters (6-1, 197) — shot a combined 37% from deep (138-373) last season.
This is one of those games against an undersized mid-major where you can absolutely lose if they get hot from 3-pt range. Even if Cliff is able to dominate the paint with, say, 24 points on two-pointers, it might not matter if the Tigers shoot 12-24 from deep.
We need to close out on shooters AND we need to hit our fair share of 3-pointers.
That said, I think our athleticism, size, and Cliff win the day, but it will be a lot closer than we would hope for, and there will be nail biting moments until we pull away in the last ten minutes.
Rutgers 79
Princeton 71
That’s certainly one way to look at it, but Pierce is no slouch, and we’re going to have to pay a lot of attention to him. Plus, it’s hard to guard THREE shooters at once. They got a lot of easy 3s last year because Tosin was such a problem for other teams with the ball in his hands, and teams frequently collapsed on him, leaving multiple players open on the perimeter. Not happening this year . . .
Princeton was a 15th seed last year in the NCAAs. I understand upsets happen in the NCAAs, but it's not like they were a 12 or a 13. Big, big difference. In all honesty if I wasnt a RU fan I would pick Princeton
