THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-PURDUE PREDICTION THREAD

Purdue 74 RUTGERS 47 in front of 4,806 at the RAC

94, 90, 88 points allowed last 3 games. You are predicting 2 things 1. Defense improves AND 2. we keep the pace down.

This is a team that looks to get the ball on the blocks against real teams. With little guard pressure and small/no bigs I expect Purdue to be very efficient offensively.

My math is 70 possession at 1.3 per yielding 91 points. We score .9 per and score 63

Purdue 91
Rutgers 63

Purdue 75
Rutgers 47. Don't they have a 7 foot kid? Lewis two fouls in first 5 minutes and Foreman plays center.

Was just looking at their scores and Purdue seems to value defense and keeping things under 60. Not sure what happened in that debacle at Illinois. Of course im assuming Rutgers takes aome air out of the ball which would be wise for them to do but I probably am assuming wrong...they will try to run and get their heads handed to them

The size disparity will really be evident in this game.A lot of dunking by Purdue and fouling by Rutgers.

Purdue 77 Rutgers 58

Additionally, what might be interesting is to predict the score at half time.

This would be due to the assumption we will tire and wear down as the game goes along.

With Purdue's huge size advantage, they should basically be able to name any score they want. I think we'll lose by 30+ points as the Boilermakers pound the ball into the low post with impunity all night.

RU 71- Purdue 70. Picking w/ my heart- Got to believe otherwise why go. If I predict with my head...Purdue 87- RU 64

RU 75 PU 74
Looking to follow the same recipe from Indiana game where we got their big man in foul trouble by driving to the basket. Except this time they need to finish those open dunks/lay ups.

from the Purdue SB Nation site. bit insulting, but deservingly so.

There is no excuse to lose to Rutgers.

I have to be honest. We need to crush Rutgers. There are two teams that have looked utterly awful in conference play: Minnesota and Rutgers. Both are bad enough that Nebraska has blown them out (though the Cornhuskers are on fire with three straight wins). Rutgers trailed at halftime to a Division II team and generally has not been competitive against anyone with a pulse. The fact they are considered a Big Ten basketball team is an absolute joke and if Purdue loses this game it deserved to not only rightfully mocked, but not even make the NCAA Tournament.

Yes, Rutgers is that bad.

No team in the Big Ten has gone winless in league play since Northwestern in 1999-2000. No non-Northwestern team has gone winless in Big Ten play Since the University of Chicago in 1944, when they were winding down their programs to leave the league. Rutgers can easily go winless in league play, but they do play Minnesota twice.

This is 100% a business trip. A loss would be an absolute disaster, so let's avoid it.

One of the most shocking upsets in Big Ten history was Rutgers beating Wisconsin last year. The Badgers were an excellent team. Rutgers was historically awful. Somehow, the Scarlet Knights won. Even with the injuries Wisconsin had in that game I still don't know how.

Since then, Rutgers has lost 19 straight Big Ten games. Last year they were at least competitive with several losses inside 10 points. This year they have only been competitive with Indiana, whom they lost to by 7. Since then they have lost by 22, 25, 34, and 26. They have six victories this season over thefollowing teams:

Rutgers-Newark - A Division II team

Howard - A common opponent! They beat the Bison 82-70

Central Arkansas - They beat a 2-12 Southland team 87-84.

Central Connecticut State - CCSU is in the running for "Worst Division I team" at 1-16 and dead last at 351 in the RPI.

Fairleigh Dickenson - Yes, this is a real Division I team.

Massachusetts-Lowell - A transitional D-I member.

Rutgers not only has not beaten a top 50 team, they have not even beaten a team in the top 200. They are pretty much one of the worst Big Ten teams ever, once again reinforcing that a loss would be absolutely disastrous.

Rutgers doesn't really do anything well. Corey Sanders leads then at 13.6 points per game and Mile Williams is next at 11.9 points per game, but they are not good shooters. Sanders is hitting 40.7% from the floor and Williams is even worse at 37.4%. As a team they only hit 41.7% from the field.

Purdue should have another huge advantage in the post. Greg Lewis and D.J.Foreman are their top post players, but they are giving up a lot of size to A.J. Hammons and Isaac Haas. Ibrahima Diallo and Deshawn Freeman would normally give them some more size, but they are both out with injuries. Omari Grier has been playing well of late, as he had 20 against Indiana.

There is honestly not that much that scares me about this team. I can't respect them when they are getting drilled by the likes of Nebraska and such. They have no business whatsoever being in the Big Ten for basketball. Their athletic program is so, so bad they somehow make our own look good. This is a game where Purdue really has no excuse to lose. They have no talent, no home court advantage, and no defense at all. Yes, Purdue hasn't been playing great of late, but this should still be an easy win

We are going to get absolutely killed and its not Jordans fault (unless you blame him for not overloading on big men this year). Red Auerbach couldn't coach Rutgers to win this game. All our injuries to the front court will make it so we will be useless in the paint in what is one of the best teams in the nation in that area.

haha that Purdue write up was brutal but totally on the money
Yeah I am sure you laughed out loud and enjoyed it. It is not accurate ! 5 of the losses to Wake, ,Creighton, St. John's , Monmouth, and Indiana, went to the last few minutes tied or down a possession or two. He doesn't even know our 7 footer , Doorson is out for the year and doesn't even mention Laurent or that Lewis is playing on 1 leg.
Your posts are overly negative and disgusting. Stop with your negative dig in every post or stop posting !!

Predictions should be based on who you think will win, not who you want to win.Otherwise, there would be no purpose in having a prediction thread.

so true, he is doing an quick preview piece not an investigative study on why Rutgers sucks. The overall picture is on the money. The sombering part of his preview was our wins...6 of them..to some of the worst programs around..thats all we have to show for it...and we looked terrible in those games and with healthy bodies at the time. You can only laugh this point to see how pathetic the program currently is. Apparently goru is wound too tight but humor is how I get by knowing I wasted another $1k on season tickets yet again

the majority of the Big 10 has faced injuries to their top players so don't expect sympathy from other schools that RU has players injured, only one of which Freeman would make any appreciable difference

You asshat, you don't care about facts and would rather uninformed writers spew stuff that is not true and agree with it. Freeman got hurt in the Clemson
game which was our 6 th game and hobbled throughout the Wake game , our 7th game. If he was healthy we win that game. We have played 9 games without him not counting Wake.
How about if Purdue was missing Haas, Hammons and Swanigan ? Do you think they would have there same record. ?Do you think they would lose the points on the paint battle by 20 every night?
You are a blind man that has been beaten down by years of bad basketball at the Rac but cannot see that injuries to Rutgers this year is worse than anywhere else in the country. That is just pathetic coming from a so called Rutgers supporter.

That was a totally biased and unprofessional preview of our squad...

How could they not mention an injury to a player who played ~6 games this season and hasn't seen the court in over six weeks, but with whom Rutgers was able to beat several teams outside of the Top 200 and play a few close games against Top 200 squads? They also failed to disclose the injury to another player who was averaging roughly 2 points and 2 rebounds per contest, as well as injuries to a few others who may have contributed at some point. This is totally relevant information that would clearly alter the assessment of Rutgers' season.

But above all, they failed to acknowledge that Eddie inherited a program at absolute rock bottom, and even though he's well into his third season, it's only really his first because he started from such a low point.

It's clear that whoever wrote that preview is biased and has it in for Jordan. They're probably Maryland fans who see what Eddie's got cooking here and want to get him fired before he completes his "masterpiece".

If a game preview like Miller's was put before the Rice fiasco and basically told it like it is but left out some facts: You can bet there would be some RU MBB fans that would have dismissed it as a trash hit piece and an inaccurate one as well :p

That said:

Edit >Came real close to the Rutgers score, but on my rant and PU score prediction,
but the way RU was destroyed all I can say is:
