Although we still may have not won the game because we couldn’t make a shot down the stretch again what I consider 2 horrible calls by the refs when the game was close. The first was on mike Williams when he was boxing out was completely bogus it was just a good box out how you are taught to box out and the second one was on Freeman when Jackson drove the lane and missed the layup they said Freeman hooked his leg just phantom like the 3 point shot in the FSU game!!

Horrible - commented on at least the Williams call in the game thread. Doesn't take much to swing some of these games - and with our history, you just sit there waiting for the backbreaking ref shoe to drop at the most inopportune time.

On the Freeman one, the player that was supposedly fouled was laughing because he knew better.

Yeah - buried that chuckle; forgot about that. Even he knew we were all witnessing the "RU Screw".

refs have been awful across the country this year. SOOO many ticky tack fouls. They're making games not fun to watching because they're completely killing any flow. In the first 9 minutes of a half vs FSU there was 16 fouls called. 16! That's insane

Sorry, not to be a sore loser...but it just like we are always getting screwed, first the BIG schedule first (5) games Mich St twice and Minn/Purdue on the road. They seem like they want to crush our spirit and to top it off watching the refs catering to the HOF coach Izzo was nauseating. The hurdles we have to climb....keep the faith boys RU nation has your steadfast support!!

Even the MSU biased announcers mentioned many missed calls.
But I got tired of their incessant "RU got away with a walk"..."looks like RU fouled to me" comments

I turned them off quite a bit....then again I do that MOST games that have BE commentators from the opponants

I don't think the refs impacted the final score. Freeman got bailed out once or twice on clean blocks from Michigan State, and they also got some bad freedom-of-movement fouls on them. I thought the refereeing in the FSU game was bad in the Noles' favor, but on Tuesday it was neutrally bad.

The refs are not deciding the outcome of our games. When you start officiating games from your seat or on the TV, you might as well pull the plug on your viewing. My God, there is nothing worse than sitting next to someone at the game or someone watching on the TV who considers themselves another official at the game. Do everyone a favor and listen to the game on a radio.

The constant whining about refs is just silly.

You aren't going to beat anyone shooting 26 % from the floor

knee-jerk reaction post

the OP is talking about 2 bad calls. and there has been banter about a few other points

nobody in this thread blamed the refs for losing

but carry on.

Exactly. Few are annoyed by our horrific shooting more than I am, but even with that, we were only down 2 with 5.5 minutes to play. Like I said, doesn’t take much to swing those types of games.

When you're down 4 with 2 minutes to go, it's a game. When you're down 8, it's game over. What's the difference? Going to the free throw line twice in your last 2 true possessions before garbage time fouling ... and both of those times were absolutely horrible calls by the big bald ref. Wasn't the only or even biggest reason we lost, but it took us out of the game at the end.

We get screwed in many of our sports. Need to fight this. Not easy but Coaches & Ad have to make a big stink or it will continue to happen.

Are two of our players (#33 and #3) getting a reputation as cry babies? They both seem to express way too much displeasure at calls and non-calls. I wish they would just play and not complain so much. I really think that this affects the rest of the team. They are our leaders and what they do rubs off on the younger players. Showing up the refs only leads to the eventual technical foul call in a critical situation.

Then lets have our coach stick up for his players. You're not showing them up you're calling them out for atrocious calls. Holding them accountable.

I agree. Let the coaches complain about the bad calls, not the players. I think Coach Pike gets into the refs ear when the call is questionable...as he should.
