Payton Craft , from Blair, de-commits from Princeton and commits to Cornell. He verbally committed to Princeton in October of 2019. He is currently #3 at 195 and #29 on the Class of 2021 Big Board. Craft projects as a 197-pounder for Cornell.

Craft is the eighth 2021 Too 100 recruit to commit to Cornell.

Wonder if the ability to wrestle at Finger Lakes in a grey shirt year played a role in this with the future of sports, especially at the Ivy League, up in the air until further notice. Either way, what Cornell has done the last few years has been super impressive.

I mean couldn't Princeton do the same thing and have people grey shirt and take classes at Mercer Community College or something while wrestling with the NJRTC?

Problem is Princeton doesn't have an Agriculture school to get them in. Most of these kids aren't going to Cornell but the subsidiary Agricultural school where qualifications are much less to get in. It's a legal loophole they created a long time ago.

Theres a funny story told by Drexels Hall of Fame coach Jack Childs. He talks about having to tell a top recruit that he was sorry but he was denied admission to Drexel..The recruit said thats all right coach I was just admitted to Cornell and am going there.

If you don't qualify out of high school to get into Cornell Ag, do you know how easy it is to get into Middlesex, Ocean or Somerset County College and get passing grades? Well that's all you need to do at Finger Lakes Community College and you too can get into Cornell. Well that is if you're a blue chip wrestler. Ever wonder why their RTC is located their?

My response was a very facetious one. I have heard the stories.

I know you were. Wasn't sure if you knew the even easier way to get into Cornell Ag. They stash everyone at Finger Lakes if they don't qualify. It's such a rigged deal for all the Ivy schools to compete with.

does anyone think this could create a potential impact transfer of the other new jersey wrestler at the same class. cornell's structure is highly unusual in general with one of the colleges being a public state school. I think the tuition may be different,

He went to Cornell knowing he had to compete with Darmstadt for the job among others. If he does transfer he wouldve Janzer to beat. Most of these top wrestlers have been competing against the best forever and realize college practice with be the samething

Agree, and the mindset of most top recruits(which JC was) is that they do not care who is at their weight...they will win the spot. That mindset is one of the reasons they are a top recruit.

that is always the mindset until numerous top players in all sports with that supposed mindset realize that they only have x amount of time and transfer for a better path to starting. it happens frequently and more now. I was referring more to the other nj aspect. nothing insulting about it just a reality that plenty of "have to beat the best" types end up transferring because they want a chance to compete.

Foca? Cardenas? Fernandes? Who are you talking about?

Not saying there was anyone suggesting it. I was saying that since there are wrestlers from nj that this could impact does anyone think it could get a transfer to us. I was asking it like maybe we can get some good news out of this, not implying there is any news.
