The step up in competition exposed Gettys and Freeman, don't you think?

people took that 1-16 stat line from the Monmouth scrimmage and declared RU will not shoot like that every night. The reality is RU is closer to that every night then hitting 35-40%. RU is a bad 3 point shooting team, we have evidence, thats why shots are not fallling so the what if game falls short there. There will be some magical nights at the RAC where those shots fall and we can spring an upset but thats not the norm

True - they're definitely inconsistent from three (on offense generally, but especially from three). We were .303 going into that game, and shot just .188 at Miami. If you look at Miami and North Texas, we shot 6/36 (.167)... and against everyone else we've shot 31/98 (.316). That's still not a great number, but it's not 3/16 or 3/20.

Not sure what's happened to Sanders in that area. Last season, he shot .315 (41/130) and this year he's started 1/12.

Not sure what people were expecting from Gettys. I think we all know what he brings and personally believe should play minutes more dependent to the matchup and situation. A more up and down athletic paced game should be a game he plays less. If we have a big center for him to bang with then we will see his value more and should play more

Much more worried about freeman. Seems like a classic case of a great player stuck in the wrong size body. Can dominate at a lower level but doesn't have the size to play that post game below the rim inside and doesn't have the outside shooting range to stretch the floor. He's caught in between positions much like I think for bullock

I think you hit the nail on the head with Gettys. It will be matchup dependent, and the BIG is sometimes a little less athletic than other leagues(if you can even say that these days), so that will play to his strengths.

Best thing about our situation this year- we have workable depth. If Gettys is not playing well, coach sits him, and Gettys knows if he wants to play again, he has to step it up. Last year, we had Lewis, and if he did not play well, there was no one else really. You had to live with that player.

As far as Freeman, he is an inch or so short, but he makes it up with some intensity and effort. Not draymond green, but he gives great effort. If you are lacking size, you make up for it with will. I think his game will translate to 8-10 and 5 in the big ten. We will see. I want to be wrong.

Laurent is jumping on the train of a rebounder as well. Hopefully, Shaq, Gettys, Freeman, Laurent, and Sa can do well for us to stay in our games.

I still am of the thought that we will not lose by 20 any time this year. We will see.

Don't get caught up on the margins of Ws and Ls. It means nothing in bball. Go 1-0 tonight.

I partially agree we are not a great shooting team. However, I think the team and coach did not do a great job of even trying a 3. The guys are running the offense, same one that UNC runs , with diagonal perimeter passes , waiting for a back pick, with someone coming open, and attack the rim. However, we have to get our guys squared to the basket ready to pull the trigger. They are playing too hesitant in shooting the 3. We will not beat almost anyone making 3 a game . Coach has to run better plays for Issa, Mike, Nigel and Corey and they have to let it fly. In the Big if we are to make some noise, we have to score more. The Miami game plays out differently if we hit just 3 three pointers in the first half and of course if Deshawn makes the 3 uncontested layups, not even counting the 3 layups that were blocked at the rim. 6-18 is 33% which we should be able to average and will increase the W's.

Not if there are better options, and we are not shooting the 3 effectively. I agree that more Issa, and Mike have to see more chances. But still, if games go by and we continue to not hit our three point shot, we have other options that are more efficient. I am sure if the Coach saw these guys lighting it up off the dribble in practice, he would put more plays for them to hit the 3pt shot.

Right now, our best offense comes from driving. Until players change, Coach Pikiell will run plays catered to that. In Miami though, our offense was lackluster. We lacked movement, and it looked out of sorts.
