But to this team's credit, they took care of business down the stretch, which they couldn't do last year. And Shaq Doorson led the way when it mattered most
Listened to the second half on radio while outside. Sounded awful. Abysmal shooting but more concerning are the continued turnovers and lousy foul shooting.
What should really concern fans is the lack of offense from the bench in the last two games. .Baker and Eugene seemed to be the only players able to create and make shots off the dribble which is a ominous sign with Miami,Michigan State and Wisconsin the next three games.Teams have nights like this. The good ones find ways to win. I agree with the poster above the turnovers as FT shooting continue to concern me.
More than the bench, I'm concerned with Peter Kiss. He gets beaten off the dribble way too often and is not providing any offense at all. He got one point because he was given the opportunity to shoot the technicals. What should really concern fans is the lack of offense from the bench in the last two games. .Baker and Eugene seemed to be the only players able to create and make shots off the dribble which is a ominous sign with Miami,Michigan State and Wisconsin the next three games.
This wasnt Stony Brook or Hartford because we can't equate upsets after big wins the same way....after Seton Hall, a lot of pats on the backs and not as crisp.
My takeaways....
A) Team didn't panic...yes 6 for 30 in the 2nd half is horrific, but i don't think more than 1 shot was forced or involved anyone going off the rails or outside the team concept.
B) Past RU teams would unravel once a team was supposed to win, suddenly got into a rock fight. Normally you would see a rash of break downs on defense...a couple misses on switches on pick and pops but overall, they defended well.
My only concern is the team is too unselfish...more than half of the turnovers occurred after a player passed up a shot and wound up trying to make too fine of a play.
The key isn't as much can RU win any of the next 3 games as much as who plays well against better athletes and competition. I have my suspicions on what I think is likely to happen but I'm going to enjoy watching the development and staff adjust to it.
It's very rare when a program gets a 3 game mulligan with 2 on the road and one against Michigan State. I think there's no pressure on RU visiting Miami and it could be the magic wand of traveling and playing with nothing to lose that opens some eyes.
That was the one of the worst games I’ve ever watched in person, both ends, but they just outhustled us and wanted it more, for a good 30 minutes of the game.Online, however, as we walked away with the win somehow, someway, despite and in spite of all are in efficiencies today. Kudos to Gene and Shaq D in the 2nd half!!
BTW - The officiating was absolutely atrocious in my humble opinion.
People are over reacting about Kiss. The first two games he shot like 80% from the floor. He does have defensive issues, but the people complaining he cant shoot are being a little ridiculous.

I disagree , I thought the effort was lousy as they beat us to a ton of loose balls and rebounds hit the floor.I didn’t think effort was an issue we just didn’t shoot it well or execute the offense especially lacking good ball movement. As often as our coaches remind the players not to look past BU, we thought we could easily win. I fully expect a better result but we need to have a 2 guard to step up.
Had BU been able to shoot the ball well or even decently, this would have been a Stony Brook / Hartford game.
