Ticket prices the same for football, but required donation for the lots is up

It really is awful. Currently to get a brick you need to go to the page, print out the form, fill out the info then mail in your check(!) Or your entire CC info including expiration date & security number. It's 2024!!

I did ask Stephanie if she could take the info over the phone & she said yes.

At this point I'm buying a brick & it will be my last year tailgating. $1000 to park is crazy.

I also emailed KTR to cancel my NIL donations.

I'm throwing in the towel
I just bought a brick...filled out the form online and paid by credit card. I didn't have to print anything. And I did get a email receipt so all looks like it went through ok.

Do you have a link? Because all I'm seeing is a from to print & complete & mail

It would be a damn shame to lose such a great fan.

Can’t blame you. I stopped too with the Parking charades that Rutgers is pulling.

This is a pretty stunning decision considering your history:
- Participated in football for ladies clinics
- Magnet fairy
- Sending care packages to children in the midwest that like Rutgers
- Super active on social media
- Hardcore tailgater
- Spent considerably on away games and bowl games

This parking situation sucks, but not sure how it is the straw that brakes your back to walk away from all this fun you seem to be having. Or are you just saying you'll do all this other stuff, just go to games and park in a cheap lot and not tailgate?

It's no different than the 5 minutes she spent as an Iowa fan bc Rutgers wouldn't rehire GS. She will be back. I don't buy her post for a second.

Honestly, I was really bummed about how Hobbs was F-ing up the Schiano rehire. I was pretty well convinced that was the end for me as well. Luckily, it didn't go down like that. This sucks but it's not on that level.

I think many underestimate how quickly, how much, and the manner in which RU does this is not the right way. Rutgers should be making it easier to park at games. We don't sell out as it is and RU makes far more money with a full stadium than they will get with this endeavor.

nice summary of my RU history by the way (you only forgot that I was a fundraising captain for the Build Fund) ! unfortunately Schiano has said no more football clinic, which is a bummer; I will still give away magnets; I'm still in touch with that kid & his family in the Chicago area; still on social media; will still go to bowl games/away games.

I'm in for tailgating this year (I think) but out going forward after that. I like tailgating but it's a lot and I'm exhausted on Sundays. I have 1.5 grandkids now that I could be visiting on a Sunday instead of recuperating from tailgating, and when I think about spending $141 to park it seems ridiculous!

They truly are tone deaf in this situation.

Ah yes, the fundraising Captain. That was a big one.

As you explain it, it makes more sense. Serious tailgating is a time consuming and expensive endeavor. So if that's all you are giving up but still going to stay engaged, then that's great.

Lou, that was a huge false narrative about F-ing up the hire. This has been detailed here many times. Don't feel like getting into a huge argument over it, but the old board mods now at another site were pushing misinformation. Even if you believe it, that stuff is long done, and Schiano has long forgotten about it. Dredging it up over an over does not do any good except to rile people up.

With that said, this move with parking strikes a huge amount of being tone deaf and not understanding the client base. I know multiple people who are not ever on these boards who are probably going to bail completely from both parking and season tickets. Others can look down their nose at these fans all they want, but these are fans who have been loyal fans for 20, 30 or more years.

I totally agree it's water under the bridge and I have no ill will toward Pat Hobbs or anyone else at RU. Look the bottom line is I can keep two parking passes and not spend any extra money if I downgrade from yellow to purple. So it's not like I don't have that option. But I have extensive relationships in the yellow lot and I'm not leaving. If that means that Rutgers gets less of my money and a scalper benefits when I really need a 2nd yellow lot pass, so be it. As the team gets better, there will be johnny come latelys with deeper pockets to take the place of the loyal sons.

Maybe not show up at the lot at 7am for a 4pm KO 😀

May we call you the Wolf of the Yellow Lot? 😂
We've run into each other when we visit @RU4Real each game.

So long Yellow lot too. Go to 38:00 in the video in this thread.

This seems to be one last push for money.
Crank up the fee quickly.
Hopefully you hoodwink people into paying it because there isn't much time to plan alternatives.

By the time the fanbase is ready to move onto alternatives and massively drop parking passes - oh Blue and Yellow lots are gone anyway.

As much as I hate the change they only really changed the fee for the second pass which makes sense since people were selling them to make their money back for their first pass. The donation requirements for the single pass remain unchanged.

Whatever. I'm a big fan, but I don't have the energy or resources to be an epic doner (hyperbole so save it) just to get to games for a bit above average team.

We may be diehards but we aren't stupid. The 30 dollar basketball parking is already a joke. I'm not sure how many more nickles and dimes every damn entity in this country can try and squeeze out of the middle class from every angle.

College football may have always been a business for the bluest of blue bloods, but it was more than that at other schools, now, like every other damn thing, it's becoming more about business and corporatization than anything else. I'm just exhausted by it.

Very fair points.
There are still ways to go to the games and park on the cheap, if you don't mind a bit of a walk and picking up seats on StubHub or Seat Geek.
It will be interesting to see what happens with ticket and parking sales this year.

The Rutgers athletic department is woefully out of touch. They act like there's some huge demand to attend Rutgers football games when there simply isn't. Just because you announce large crowds doesn't mean there are actually large crowds. Raising required donations by these amounts are insane and many season ticket holders will simply walk away. And they should.
I think they realize there's more demand for tailgating in lots they are planning to build in.
