Ticket prices the same for football, but required donation for the lots is up

I'm not so concerned about revenue. Don't kill me here on a football board, but why do football fans think they should get to take over everything on game days? Golfers want to play. Thats why the course is there. It should be available to them.
I would be really surprised if Lisa (Golf Pro) lets parking on the course happen. I would suspect she would put up a fight. Secondly the course sells Tee Times on Saturday and Sunday Mornings for the entire year, meaning you can purchase 8:00am on Saturday and it is yours for the year, I would be pissed if I was told I could not use it. Also there is the Rutgers' Golf Association RGA, people pay to join it to compete in tournaments virtually every Saturday and Sunday throughout the season.

Those are all valid points, and they prove to come to fruition.

But with the eventual expansion the stadium to high of possibly mid 60s, and with Parking going away, one of two things are going to happen

Through either going to find more space on Bush, a.k.a. the golf course, etc., or they will be busting people in from outside venues like Colgate-Palmolive, etc.

I don't forsee expansion. If anything there would be a decrease in capacity for more luxury. Like cushion seats in the midfield sections where the red bleachers are

Granted, nothing above the upper 60s, Max, and would have to include luxury seating, and a deck above the one in zone

The Fieldhouse needs to be near the stadium, and lacrosse needs to be near Rodkin

Throw in eventually expanding hail to make it a true football operations center commensurate with the big boys and we’re going to lose even more parking
yes that is true

right across 18 there is a boatload of undeveloped land they could create massive parking lots

Thanks - not being a golfer myself, I don't have much of a connection to the course any longer since my Fathers passing a few years back... So this is certainly more detailed info than I would be able to provide on an impact to daily operations, but also completely in line with what I've been saying whenever this topic has been brought up.

Yeah, but that’s kind of far, there is a massive plot of land on the corner of River Road and hoes Lane, I thought Rutgers owned it and that can absolutely be used as there is a walkway directly to the stadium

Luxury will be prioritized, but We build a consistent winner, and expansion will be needed. Lots of dormant fans from the ‘10s, ‘00s and ‘90’s. The footings are in place in the Southern Endzone.
Midfield seats definitely need seat backs.

I wish all seats had them, wouldn’t cost that much money, and they would be much more comfortable

i agree with those skeptical of ruining a golf course fairway for 7 weekends of parking.
golf course loss of revenue and the cost to repair fairway? . yeah michigan has it but have you seen the grass and how often is the golf course used during season? what about inclement weather?

I would have to imagine that sane folks have thought of losing how many 2500 parking spaces to facilities. and the answer was not have them park in tan and silver and we can bus more people from livingston lots . and college ave...

the fact we need a field house, lacrosse needs a field (sorry cant play on grass in feb/march and Greg wants team out of Stadium, and we have a perennial top 15 team that is already top 10 in attendance)

.

But with the eventual expansion the stadium to high of possibly mid 60s,

Yeah. Sure.

Am I the only one 100% against parking on the golf course? It will completely ruin the course, and it will mean golfers can't use it on game days. Hard pass.
Ridiculous
How many Golfers are using the Golf Course in October and November?
How many are playing during night games in September and October ?
If Michigan can mange it so can Rutgers. And we have a world renowned Turf Management department at RU.
A few golfers can adjust their playing times 6 times per year .Max. so thousands of Rutgers fans can attend Football games and provide Revenue $$$$$.

Yea, everyone get out of the way for football. Nothing else matters.

Football time the show
It’s all about $$

I'll help with the description to those that think it will happen...a row of cars along finch that will be assigned is probably what some engineer is selling rutgers...(its only 12 x 24 ft per space)

Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on seven holes. The 18-hole Rutgers University Golf Course is open to the general public and tee times start at 7 am weekdays and 6 am on weekends in the height of the season. Our targeted opening and closing dates, weather permitting, are March 1 and December 15.

Developed from a 9 hole facility, Rutgers University Golf Course was reopened on May 29, 1963 as an 18 hole facility. The course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway, and nearby points of interest are The Waksman Institute, Rutgers Medical School and multiple athletic facilities, including SHI Stadium. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways (albeit some fairways have tire ruts) and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.

The Rutgers Men's and Women's Golf teams play on the Rutgers University Golf Course. Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on nine holes. The course is closed on day of game for football parking and closed the following day until 1:00 for tee times to clean the fairways along Finch.

Again, football runs the show

It won’t affect me as I park in green, but if for some reason they took out green to build something beneficial for football, I wouldn’t give a shit

I’m there for 4-5 hours tailgating before & after the game, but I’m there for the game

And to win
And if we need shiny toys to win, so be it

Football runs the show for the athletic department. It does not run the lives of everyone in the greater New Brunswick area. Many nany people enjoy golf and not football. They don't care how much money our athletic department brings in. They just want to get in 18 holes with their buddies on a fall Saturday.

We would not expand in anticipation of demand, it would only be as an, after the fact demand for seating
This would be a long way off, if ever

The good people of Ann Arbor, and those of Pasadena still get to play golf and yet they have found a way to use golf courses for football parking.
Oh, and Pebble Beach manages to park a ton of beautiful cars on their World Class course for the Concourses de Elegance.
But the sacred Rutgers golf course could never do such a thing!

While I get the team has sucked for the majority of our lifetimes and the lone bright spot for many was the tailgating aspect, a fieldhouse is badly needed, and buildings for other sports (lax) is needed as well

As has been stated numerous times, we have some of most abundant and closest tailgating out of any school I've seen

Yellow and Blue will take a hit, we have the space to make adjustments

Behind Yursak near the road - never used, open it up
Johnson Park 90 % of the time
All the colored lots on Busch
Other lots on campus not used
IM field
Field behind IM field
Front lawn of Werbin Center
Rac
Golf course
Greek church
Numerous lawns
Buecclich park
New Brunswick
Colgate Palmolive - nobody has mentioned that, but it's viable if we ever got that big
Corner of Hoes lane and River Rd - large house has been demolished, prime land
Area where first responders used to park

If we want big time college football, sacrifices need to be made

Ideally they'd turn Easton Around avenue and class it up, and make the bar destination the day of the game a viable alterntative as well
The fieldhouse needs to be attached to Hale. Put it on the Hale parking lot and put parking below ground under it. Put lacrosse on the turf field next to Battaglia fields. Leave yellow alone I've been tailgating there since the '80's. Better yet, remove the welcome center and move it to, I don't know,... college ave maybe??? Thereby reinstating yellow spots. And leave Blue alone too you commies!! LOL

Welcome Center is a mystery, it feels like someone blindfolded themselves and randomly picked a spot on Busch to decide the locaton

lol thinking that golf concerns are going to superceded anything football
I honestly don't know if they will be or not
But if we get to mid 60's capacity wise in the next 10-15 years, they'll have to park people somewhere
Whether it's on Busch or off site

I don't think we will see that, even with winning seasons. Parking is already a hassle for many and it's only going to get worse. In a million years, I'll never park and then take a bus to the stadium and I'm a diehard so imagine the casual fans. You'll 1 game a year that is an issue but no way are we seeing this kind of uptick and especially since we are no where near filling our stadium now.

as I said, they ought build parking across 18 where it's an easy walk over but someone said it's a preserve or something. Rutgers is truly fking themselves here

I'd sign up for that
Make sit easier for all parties involved

the turf field in Battaglia would be a solution but you would have to move the field over (into the woods) so you could have stands/viewing on both sides. i think part of putting the lax on blue lot is because its close to Rodkin were existing support staff/locker rooms are.
i thought the welcome center was bult there because of the desire for a reception area meeting rooms for other sports 20 years ago.
putting the football facility behind hale center in the parking lot that would be attached to the stadium is the best location IMO... and putting lacrosse parallel with Yurchak,,,
i still feel a parking deck for the students/faculty on busch could assist with any loss of parking...

Collectively most of us probably feel that RU is finding the most cost effective way to build facilities with the assumption that yellow/blue parking patrons can just move somewhere and walk a little further..

Once the yellow and blue lot is gone, golf course will be an option. I just laugh at the idea that we should do it to offer cheaper parking for more people.

..supply/demand so the cost will be equal to higher...the assumption when people say golf course they are not implying the driving range lot....

regarding the hypothetical parking on Route 18, couldn't Gov Murphy work some magic and float a bond or tell NJ Transit to build the parking garage for a more efficient bus or commuter park and ride so that would be used during the week throw some solar panels on it too for a green tax brake..... also with the increase in redevelopment downtown more parking is going to be needed and this could be an alternative along the highway...

If any of this parking reduction discussion is to be taken seriously regarding it's effect on long term program donor/loyalists parking in yellow lot tailgating... Welcome center has to go Buh Bye...first

Let the Johnny come lately's bus on over, They won't know any better. Leave yellow and blue alone!!

Parking is revenue generating. If golf course opens up to parking, you can bet it will be expensive because it has to revenue neutral plus cost to maintain or repair the course.

No way they move the welcome center.

That welcome center sucks! .... relaying from a friend....

Actually it's not that hard. The center generally sucks to begin with and there are plenty more "placement appropriate" spots on many campuses. Livingston comes immediately to mind.

For once we're in perfect agreement.

But if we get to mid 60's capacity wise in the next 10-15 years

We're not getting there in 15 years. The next expansion, whenever that happens, will be luxury boxes because those are cash cows. That was slated to happen but the mortgage crisis and subsequent recession derailed that. And then, of course, the Ash Era.

Expansion would most likely be the luxury boxes, which would add 500 or so seats. The next project, which would be major, is regrading the north endzone so that it matches the south endzone, which would add another 1500 seats and include footings for an eventual upper deck. But that would be major bucks, and with the current environment I don't see that happening any time soon.
