Time to pull Laviano

Horrendous decision, but you gotta give him some leeway to make mistakes - just not Nova leeway.

Flood wants to make sure the game is out of reach before he makes a move

Thank god for Laviano that his body of work is so strong that he has earned the right to keep playing no matter how inept he looks.

I preferred Rettig and said so but I'm not one for the quick hook or back and forthing. The reaction here was predicted and expected. He's a new qb and there are going to hiccups and bad decisions. Who's to say Rettig wouldn't do the same. It's not like he has a ton of experience either and would likely make similar bad decisions.

Mind you it doesn't mean Laviano is good or will get better. He could still continue to make bad throws/decisions as the season goes on. But to me you still have to give the guy chosen a fair chance to work through it and see if he can get better. It can't be quick hooks at the first signs of trouble and bumpy offense. Rettig is my choice and if he was the guy I would want the same leeway afforded him and pretty much whenever a new qb comes into play.

A new qb needs a long leash it's just a matter of how long. Like Nova around the block a couple times or such a short one here like you guys are wanting him gone in a first half. Nova's was too long and I think what's being demanded here is too short but really it's all subjective.

They should try blocking for him. If you can't control the line of scrimmage against one of the worst defenses in the PAC 12, it doesn't matter.who the QB is.

My issue is that the play calling reflects his weaknesses.

I was just saying in the game thread the hurry up might help him get in rhythm. He's strung together some decent plays in this 2 min drive. Maybe we need more of that to help him. It might put some stress on the D though if we don't hold possession.

it is quite obvious that Laviano does not have the arm strength to stretch the field.. that with the questionable decision making should make this a no brainer.. Rettig has a cannon

LOL good one. Did you happen to miss the games where Nova through 4+ INTS against Kent State and PSU? Laviano has the safest job on the planet. Only him getting arrested will keep him off the field.

Flood getting yelled at going to the locker room by fans. Good.
My concern is lack of front 7 D pressure....create some sacks or TO's....play like your the better team..not on your heels.Hopefully we start off the 2nd half with a TD and it'll snowball..

As bad as the D has been, they held them to 13 points after they scored 7 points on their 1st drive.

The offense is causing us to lose this game.
