As challenging as many of seem to think it will be, and despite a perfect opportunity to have planes flying with signs, tshirts saying to fire flood, chanting, dancing and facepainting and possibly the mayhem guy at the game, all against Flood.....why not take the opportunity if you attend on Saturday to support the team and cheer for them.

This board has been dominated by some frankly off the wall ideas this week, and i get 85% of the whopping 364 people here want Flood fired. The go pay thing was good, but its over. Its time to move on.

Have all the feelings you want about flood, but lets be positive towards our team and root for them to win

You think freshman, sophomores, and juniors like getting out schemed and losing by 40? You realize you can root for change and still hope for the kids to being Better.

So dont root for them then...you can hope for better and still support the players, unless you think that is mutually exclusive? Never said they enjoyed, but probably makes it a bit better knowing the fans are pulling for them.

Barchi only understand $$$$$. So Rutgers has be hit where it hurts.

Don't buy tickets. Dont buy concessions. Dont buy parking. Cancel you season tickets . Boycott the games. Spend time with your family. Go for a nature walk.

End all football donations. Let the program shut down.

Flood has singlehandedly destroyed Rutgers Football, and there may no coming back from his
catastrophic stewardship.

Agree with the OP. The team is what it is. We have 7 starters on our defense who are freshmen or were thrown into the game after the start of the season and before they were ready to play. As a defensive coordinator, I don't know how you scheme for that. We can't compete with the big boys with the current situation, so we have to suck it up this year.

Let's see how the team does in the next three games. No matter how you feel about Flood, this isn't the NFL - these are college kids who deserve our support. The coaching situation will be handled by the administration. Recruits are also watching, so let's behave like adults.

Here is a thought.

Treat 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 year old MEN, like the MEN they are.

If these guys will be so thrown off their game by a sign in the stands, a plane overhead or people booing their coach, they should go play Tiddlywinks in the student center.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest they'll be fine if Elmer is booed or if their wittle itty bitty eyes happen upon a #ChopFlood sign.

Secondly, stop creating a false dichotomy between wanting the coach gone and not supporting the players, the team, the program or the worse one yet, hoping for losses. The Go Fund Me thread is over 22 pages and NOT ONE person wished for the team to lose Saturday. Not one.

Stop attempting to vilify a portion of the fanbase--a portion that put up $10k in 36 hours while you sit and pontificate--because you disagree with them. It's a bad look.

Sorry but the posters on this board do suck ass. They always show their ignorance by blaming the QB and the HC. No original thoughts just finger pointing. We need a huge upgrade in our fan base. Period. I will root for Flood and our team until the day he is gone. We DO have fans hoping for losses so they can get off on this board. It's an extremely sad group of individuals but it is fact.

Fortunately, if we win in the big we will get new fans who may or may not be fair weather fans but they WILL be fans who will shell out cash and NOT waste their time acting like two year olds on this board. If we need a new HC to get that done then so be it, Until that time go to the game and support your time like ALL! Other BIG fans do. We are years behind the fan bases we compete against. Decades really. time to MAN UP likenHudsin says and stop being babies.

Does supporting the players mean we cannot hold the coach accountable for the team's failures?

Me thinks you've never stepped foot on another big time campus when things are leaking oil.

The last 48 hours here are SO MILD by P5 standards that the hand wringing is really mind boggling to me.

I root for the jersey, not the boob that leads them out of the tunnel.

A couple things:

1. I'm pretty sure we aren't the only fan base in the country that is vocal when things are going off the rails.

2. We are years behind other schools in tradition only. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the entire decade from 2000 - 2009 was for. Prior to the B1G invite, every one of us was arguing we were ready to compete. Maybe not with the top 2-3 teams, but certainly not residing in the cellar. Every single one of us felt we were mid-level B1G at worst and that the Big East's reputation was tarnishing ours. Sadly, we have gone backwards, by a lot. And fans of every school will point that out.

Should always be about the protecting the players... yes, there are bad apples and they are criticized for their actions.... But said it before on previous posts, we can and should be critical of the results of the players on the field constructively, but should always remember they are "young Adults" or "older kids".... and dragging anyone's names through the mud on these boards just isn't right. Yes... holding coaches accountable is what we can and should do...

Does supporting the players mean we cannot hold the coach accountable for the team's failures?

No, it doesn't, but there area some clueless posters here who simply DO NOT understand this. Nowhere in the history of sports has it EVER been "mandated" that a team/school/program SUPPORTER also supports the HC/Manager/Owner/GM, etc., as well. NEVER.

Yes, but the question is do you hold him accountable by writing letters to the President and AD and to him if you want, or create a negative environment by booing or flying banners.

I hate to break it to you but we are playing big time college football. Injuries, youth and replacement players are things every team has to deal with on this level. It's the coaches job to build depth through effective recruiting and player development, 2 areas Flood has failed miserably. Please stop with all the excuses, it's clear the team is in a downward spiral. Just who do you see as an emerging playmaker on offense or defense for next year? All that being said, I will always support the team and the players regardless of who is coaching the team.

I disagree. We have the best fans in the nation. Name me a fan base that withstood countless and perpetual losing seasons, heartbreaking losses, never won ANYTHING in ANY sport and yet there's over 7,000 daily fans in this football board alone, that display amazing loyalty despite having no legs to stand on. RU never gave anything to deserve such a passionate and enthusiastic fanbase.

If anything, the BOG, president, state legislators are the ones that need to upgrade their mindset in rewarding the fans and give them something to cheer about. I said it before and I will say it again. All Rutgers fans are going to heaven because God cannot be so cruel to punish people twice...
