Yes, the talent stinks with 'flood's duds' on the roster. Today we were more talented than this team. We were more talented than a road team who also has a first year head coach . We got taken to to woodshed . Go figure .

Shhh, you cant post things like this around here.

This needs to be a safe space and fit everyones agenda.

We out gained them. We just turned the ball over 5 times. This game is really that simple. We are not good enough at any position to turn the ball over 5 times and win.

People want to rail on the coaches. And whatever.... I guess anything is fair game after today, but call it what it is. Our turnovers happened at the worst possible times.

People can gripe about the coaching, its okay...but coaches didn't put the ball on the ground. The staff put us in a position to win today as far as I can tell.

I'm not blaming the coaches, I'm blaming everyone. The players and the coaches have all been awful.

Who said we are a 'good, disciplined' team?

Nobody, but people are talking about turnovers like they don't matter. "We only lost because we turned it over". No shit. They are a sign of a terrible team and a poorly coached one at that. Every coach in the country will take the heat for his team turning it over and rightfully so, as it's a direct reflection on them.

Illinois is a horrendous team and they came into our house and embarrassed us. Whether they flat out dominated us or we gave it to them on a silver platter doesnt matter. They executed and we didn't. There is no excuse for that.

There's a great deal of blame to go around, but at the end of the day it always falls on the coaches. This coaching staff just makes it a little easier to point the finger at them. This is what happens when people who know absolutely nothing about football make hiring decisions.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am) but aren't Denman, Mueller and Nelson originally Schiano recruits to be coached by the offensive line coach at the time, Flood? 5th year seniors that are simply not good?

Fans on this board went YEARS making excuses for Schiano's perennially disappointing teams. He couldn't beat West Virginia in 11 tries. But now they can't go half a season without complaining ceaselessly about a new coach with new schemes taking over a team that won 4 games last year.

Good question . I think flood gets some credit (or blame) for that 2012 class . Hamilton was very good and so was Caroo. Why isn't the offensive line recruits good ?

Team needed a spark. Gio added that. Let's see what happens in practice this week.

Hamilton is a shell of himself unfortunately, he hasn't had any impact whatsoever...he may have been good at one time but...they really needed him to step up this year and I just don't think he has it in him anymore to help lead this defense.

I don't understand it, but unfortunately, I'm kind of forced to agree with that assessment. He's been invisible all year.

i think one problem is the Rutgers defensive ends are non existent for the most part so teams are running to the outside vs the inside and also the center and guards can key on the DTs leaving the DEs one one one with tackles in pass protection...but Hamilton has to be slowed because he is rarely making disruptions in the backfield

Losing Quanzell Lambert certainly hurts in that regard because teams are able to focus more on Hamilton with him out, but some of the comments made both by Darius and the staff prior to the season never really sat well with me even at the time. Things like "He's as well as he's ever going to be" as a response to the question whether he's at 100%, things along those lines- never saying "yes, he's as good physically as ever, even better, yadda, yadda, yadda" that you typically hear of a player coming off an injury. The answers always seemed more guarded and much more carefully worded, at least to me.

Coaching put the players we had in position to win. Fumbled kick return at 11, was not on coaching. Laviano fumbled in red zone, not on coaching(other than he still plays). Gio getting picked off in 4Q, for 14 PT swing was not on coaching. we moved the ball, played D, but executed poorly.

We have first year coach, and OC that is 28. They are learning on the job going to take time to change systems and get players.

I was not surprised that Gio threw a pick and not really surprised Drew hasn't out coached Meyer, Schiano, Love Smith, Harbaugh, or Pedersen. Give staff some time. Time will tell if we have right hires, and time heals all wounds...

so it's not the coaches fault that the kids don't know NOT to catch a punt inside the 10?????

It's not the coaches fault to not put your qb under center on 4th and 1 with issues with the snap????

Look, this team has lost two games to two teams we should have beat and at home no less. We have no game plan, don't adjust (even the announcers were talking about this), we look unprepared and more

you can't win with lots of turnovers but coaching helps eliminate some of those turnovers

What games were we favored in this year that we lost? We should've beaten illinois? According to who besides some of our unrealistic fans? Odds makers had Illinois favored. Too many of our fans have overestimated the talent level on our team for years, and they're still doing it.

Only Rutgers fans could determine that when a team turns the ball over, particularly numerous fumbles, it has absolutely nothing to do with coaching. Here's a memo -- players don't just carry the ball. There are specific techniques involved that should be taught. Tiki Barber didn't just stop fumbling -- he was taught the correct way to protect and secure the ball.

how many fumbles did Flood recover in 4 years?

Hey, man, Chris was doing JUST FINE until DREW made him FUMBLE!
I know you're being sarcastic here, but they clearly tried to run him more today and he just isn't cut out for it. They are putting him in situations set up for failure.

May as well take the growing pains with Gio or Odin.

Correct....one fumble or even 2 maybe.... but 5 TO's in a must win game points to both technique and focus - and what other team would have a delay of game down 24-7 while running a no huddle. How anyone could watch this team through seven games and not be questioning the quality of coaching is beyond me.
