It’s gravy time for Bowling Green (8-2), who might be pushing for a possible New Year’s Six game – with a lot of help – but this is mostly about setting the tone. The Falcons have won the East, but now it can make things interesting in what could be the MAC championship preview. Toledo (8-1) wins the West with wins over at Bowling Green and Western Michigan AND a Northern Illinois loss. It can take a huge step forward to making this Part One. Why Toledo Will Win

How do you handle a high-octane Bowling Green team? You keep it off the field. The Rockets have the firepower to keep up the pace and fire away in a shootout, but this is one of the league’s premier running teams and it’s about to show it. Before last week’s win over Central Michigan, Toledo, ran for 238 yards or more in the previous five games. Bowling Green’s run defense overall hasn’t been bad, but it’s been ripped up over the last two weeks rolling for 299 yards and three scores against Ohio, and 205 yards and three touchdowns against Western Michigan.

Why Bowling Green Will Win
It’s bombs away on a porous Toledo secondary. The Rockets have allowed 205 yards or more in every game this year but one, getting destroyed by the Central Michigan passing game last week and allowing close to 900 yards with eight touchdowns over the last three weeks. Here’s how good the Bowling Green passing game has been – last week it threw for 269 yards and three scores in a win, and it was a disappointment. Matt Johnson will hit the 300-yard mark once again.

What’s Going To Happen?
Toledo isn’t going to be fazed by going on the road, but Bowling Green is rolling right now. Matt Johnson will get the job down during a weeknight for a second straight week, and the run defense, not a rock, will hold up more than fine. It’ll be a fun shootout.

Toledo vs. Bowling Green Prediction
Final Score: Bowling Green 40, Toledo 37, Line: Bowling Green -7, o/u: 69
Must See Rating: 5: The Night Before … 1: Donny!

Big early advantage for Matt Campbell and Toledo on the road. Up 14 and driving again.

Sorry but a 2-loss MAC, AAC - whatever - team, shouldn't be in an NY6 game. Undefeated, 1-loss, great, but NOT a 2-loss team.

Not sure why neither of these guys is connected to RU rumors. We would be foolhardy to ignore a MAC coach when so many great B1G coaches have their roots there.

Because there is no way of knowing whether we are watching Tim Beckman v David Clausen or Matt Campbell v Dino Babers. Stay away!

Watched bits of that game last night before I knew it, it was already 14-0. Same issue that keeps me wary about Babers and from my top tier of choices, defense. I believe Toledo scored on 6 straight possession at one point 3TDs and 3FGs. He's got to deliver that mediocre defense or he's likely to be just another Indiana.
