DeCommit from Buffalo, and before you all go ballistic with that......

Three St*r who has offers from Army, Navy, Temple just to name a few. Then there is this....

Ash, is getting the right kind of kids intellectual, tough, and building blocks for the future.

I'd rather see Ash spend the limited time he had recruiting solid kids like this. They will help build a solid foundation and quality depth, something we don't have right now.

He could've spent his time recruiting kids we have no chance of getting, then we end up with nothing or kids that are less talented or don't fit the program, (remember who used to do that, lol). IMO, Ash is addressing our most obvious need with this limited recruiting cycle, depth at key positions.

Shift, If there isn't a VA Tech offer let me be the first to apologize on his behalf. Maybe you haven't noticed but we are losing guys left and right and so far are not replacing with anyone. We are in no position to quibble. We need bodies or we will be facing not only a talent deficit but a roster deficit.Ash knew when he took this less than enviable position that he would be dealing with a deck of about 42 cards. For this recruiting class let's just do the best we can and hope Michigan and Pitt crash and burn . Anyone who gets offers from Army and Navy I will take gladly.

He is ranked higher than Reynolds

Thanks but Ill buy my bridges from our mods on premium, who btw, have been such straight shooters over the years that it hurts to hear their opinions at times. The kid picked up the offer...deal with it.

Schools throw out "offers" all the time. They are not always committable.

Its less than 2 weeks before signing day. Had the offer been extended six months ago and/or not confirmed by our mods than i might agree with you.

You didn't say that when you posted this:
"And if you believe he had an offer from VT, I have a bridge to sell you."

I stated a FACT, and you give me a song and dance? I looked up his profile on Rivals and 247, and there was no V Tech offer listed. I said nothing else. I supported Flood when some folks here snorted and pooh poohed offers to recruits who had no power 5 offers. I support Ash more in this respect because I trust his ability to evaluate recruits. It is a bit amusing to see some running to the defense of every offerree when in the past Flood would get ridiculed for similar offers. Let me make myself clear- I am 100% behind Coach Ash, just like I was behind Coach Flood.

I can't help but reflect back to some of the posts I read when we got the official invite to the B10. Does anyone remember? We're a B10 team now and we'll see a major uptick in recruiting, facilities additional sports. Three years later we're competing with Temple, Army and Navy for recruits. Yes of course we all support coach Ash!! Yes of course we all wish he succeeds!! But he does not have the name recognition to land 4 & 5 star recruits. I believe he may very well may struggle with some 3 star recruits. He will need to go the G. Schiano route where luck landed him Ray Rice and hard work the rest of the team and after a 10 year tenure he gave us hope with 2006. If a team like Rutgers truly wanted to spend the money and take a leap to that next level they would have needed to hire a Rich Rodriguez or Lane Kiffin, two guys who had the star power to reload much much quicker. JMHO

No, I think you will see the B1G uptick in the recruiting with the next class. Flood either swung for fences (and miss) with 5* or he went under radar. Remember he had the class in 2014 until the de-commitment fiasco struck! Know we know he was horrific recruiter and closer. So if he did that in 2014 imagine what Ash can do next year.

31Trap and if I recall both RR and Lane Knife were fired ftom there high salary big time schools. They are no guarantee for success. Ash may not be either but let's give the man a chance before dissing his work. For msny caches out there Rutgers is not an ideal situation. Lots of potential but lots of its own problems and need for full University and Stste support. Hopefully Ash znd staff can make a dent and impression in turning things around. Greg was a start but when he was hired there was little interest by top coaches. And when BM began to get the ball rolling as far as $$ commitments and work that needed to be done he got canned. And what followed was the Rice and Pernetti disasters and related mishandling by Barchi and JH.

Bottom line....it is more than just hiring an expensive or named coach.

Coach Ash has been around the best talent in college football. The guy knows it when he sees it. Fully trust this dude to get it done on the recruiting trail.
I couldn't agree with you more. Ash has been around top talent and top programs for quite some time and knows what level of talent you need to succeed in the Big Ten. This is his first head coaching gig and he will be extremely motivated to succeed at Rutgers. I trust his ability to identify and then develop talent .

So being around the OSU program gives him the ability to spot 3 stars who actually are 5 stars?

More likely he's getting the best players he can after entering the game very late with a limited amount of talent left to poach.

Maybe, maybe not.

But one thing is certain: Flood was a disaster at utilizing his weapons, especially on the offensive side of the ball. For example, Grant is the type of underrated recruit that Rich Rod built his program on.

What did we do? We continue to run Power-O smack into the heart of superior lines.

This is a character recruit. We have 3 LBs already. Note all his school are most centered in the NE. So he want to stay local. He got brains with both Army and Navy offers. he now has a P5 offer so if he has the desire and talent (Ash's eye say yes) I go with this young man.
This is what is so lovely about Jersey we have high caliber players all over the place, you just have to make the effort to pick them up. Too much talent is let go to DII and DIII school. This is not a" body" but a young man who values quality school offers i.e. Army and Navy and a 3 star ranking= he can play at D1 level.
Example of all the low hanging fruit in Jersey. Great get

He has a lack of offers because he projects as a LB but played DE in high school. Anyone actually watch his tape? Extremely athletic, great range, very physical but has not played LB. Not a high risk kid to take with a big upside.

I am almost throwing this recruiting season up as a wash. Flood was a horrible recruiter and because Ash stayed on until the fiesta bowl he is basically getting 3 weeks to clean up Floods mess. I believe next year we will finally see some high ranking recruits commit.
