Great career at RU

Biggest moment was a missed dunk vs Houston
It's a shame the first thing that comes to mind in sports fans' heads when thinking about a player's career is often negative, regardless of the positive things that player accomplished.

I know I'm guilty of it.

Bill Buckner between the legs in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

Mariano Rivera blowing Game 7 of the 2001 World Series.

Chris Webber calling timeout in the 1993 NCAA title game.

Examples are endless.

Rutgers football: Tim Wright dropping the ball with 4 minutes remaining caused an interception that led to Louisville winning the Big East title and earning a spot in the Sugar Bowl in 2012. Wright is real good guy... had a fine RU career and played in the NFL. I hate the fact that's what I think of first when I hear Wright's name.

Johnson was a outstanding student athlete at Rutgers and UCLA and a role model for other students. With the transfer portal and NIL its doubtful that many student athletes will stay at the same school for more than two seasons.

As I said in another post.
look no further than praise from opposing coaches, if you want to know the true worth of our players

Myles was lauded by every opposing coach we played against.

WOW…. It’s difficult to put into words how much Myles’s final year team underachieved.
It was also Cliffs first year, that team should have been a final 4 team…

That team going 16 and 13 should have been a huge warning signal… It was coaching malfeasance at its best …sorry!

He was a great kid, very smart and hardworking for sure.

I always was frustrated by his lack of finishing/dunking and getting pushed around often underneath the hoop.

Would I take him on this team? Absolutely. He would be the third best player on the team. We would be a tournament team with him.

If he wants to be associated with UCLA over RU, that is fine by me.

Lolololol. Do you know how social media works? That post was from UCLA BASKETBALL. Of course, UCLA basketball wants to be associated with Myles.

And last year, Myles was at the RAC at a game, wearing scarlet, got a huge ovation with a big smile on his face.

Why do I have a feeling that some here would boo the crap out of him for “abandoning” them. Things have been a little off with this program since he left.

Great player and representative of both schools.

He doesn’t at all - he’s come back and visited. His Twitter bio has both of his schools in it.

We were 18-14 (16-12 regular season, 1-1 BTT, 1-1 NCAAT) And you have to remember the win total is depressed by lack of OOC games due to covid. With a regular OOC slate we're probably at 19-20 wins in the regular season.

That being said, that team had a BRUTAL January.

Myles was a great student athlete and one of the nicest guys we ever met. Always nice to my kids. Was a superstar center? No. But we would take him in a second over the productivity at the center position this season. No Rutgers fan should ever be upset that he went to UCLA for grad school after graduating from Rutgers.

Myles Johnson is the one kid that transferred out that really did it for the right reason... academics. The one kid that deserves a big applause if he is back in the house tonight.

BTW, my everlasting memory of him will be while shooting foul shots, his father yelling at him that he won't get any chicken if he misses. Even the bench was cracking up.

I’m speaking of the year we lost to Houston with JY MM and Myles still on the team.

He got one last year. He’ll get another this year. RU legend.

I remember his father talking about his recruitment - the first criteria was the school had to have a top 50 engineering program.

If Johnson and Mag were on this team, the season would look much different. Their defensive and rebounding effort would make a big difference and would set the standard for the rest of the team.

Johnson out of eligibility

Mag playing D and letting the freshman shoot would have been a big change from what we see. Shame he ended up as he did.

Obviously was great on D in paint

But never had real high motor, didn't play with chip on shoulder which need to get to next level

Peronally I wouldn't call him soft, but I totally get somebody going in that direction, guy didn't exactly play like a killer

Remember dude from PSU that went to Cavs, Lamar Stevens? he was only like 6'6" but played MUCH bigger because he was an animal. He's literally the polar opposite of Myles.

As much as I love Caleb, I think his return really messed up the rotations/flow of that team. They were a top 20 team and borderline elite offensively before he came back, and Caleb was particularly brutal on O as he battled back from injury

Among big ten players he was second in block rate and 11th in steal rate in his last season with Rutgers, that’s pretty remarkable
