...basically in denial. Not shocking, however, not in the least:

"This process has been going on for, really, over a year now,'' Flood said. "Some of the allegations were situations that we discovered on our own and submitted to the NCAA. Some of the issues are athletic-department oversight issues and some of the issues I disagree with.''

Do you really expect him to admit to the violations, especially while there's an open investigation & he may be facing a show cause order? No sane person would do that.

Obviously, however, not my point. His comments here pretty much mirror everything we've heard from him in the past and, IMHO, no doubt he will vehemently deny any wrongdoing to the bitter end (regardless of proof against him...).

It's the whole "and there are some issues I disagree with" comment. What could he possibly "disagree" with? Seriously?

well we do not know because we do not have the actual report..there certainly could be things in there that are debatable. I dont think any of this stuff doesnt go on at other schools..however Fudd brought this all on himself RU by his stupid Princeton/Barnwell episode. If he didnt do that there never would be an investigation and no one would care. He opened it up..idiot

That's the amazing thing--he was deep sixing failed drug tests, but got caught going incognito in Princeton--the equivalent of getting busted for drugs because you rolled through a stop sign.
I read the 15-20 page document, which I recall saying he did not report the failed drug tests to the AD. But should there not be a procedure in place where the AD requests and periodically reviews these things? And if Julie was keen to get rid of KF, this would have been an easy way to get rid of him. If there was a way that KF subverted the system and hid the failed tests from Julie, he deserves the blame. But I am scratching my head asking why was it not standard operating procedure for Julie or someone else to review these things for EVERY sport and be part of discussion with EVERY coach. Wonder how this is handled at other schools.

Reporter : "Kyle , how do you respond to and overcome each of the 7 allegations made by NCAA during your time as head coach at Rutgers"

Kyle: "Well we're going to prepare and just focus on going 1-0 . One allegation at a time"

if he is not reporting them then how could they know, you wouldnt just assume people are on drugs would you. Perhaps the guy in charge of drug testing wasnt reporting it. Perhaps Julie was covering it up. Perhaps Flood is lying. Perhaps this policy goes back to GS and TP and RU was just continuing to do it wrong. We dont know and wont know unless you get a sitdown with Kyle or Julie

hes in denial and is a liar.

He's also a coward. He will try to shift blame and throw anyone and everyone else under the bus. But Kyle, if you're reading this, it won't matter. Your reputation, such as it is, is worthless at best and you will still go down in infamy as, all things considered, possibly the worst P5 coach of all time.

Guess my point is from a corporate governance perspective, would you really leave the head coach in charge of monitoring the drug tests when he has the most to gain from playing games with them? But again, the policy/procedure may have preceded Julie, and maybe it is SOP for just the coach and the guy in charge of the tests to handle the test results at Rutgers and other places. But IMO, someone over the coach should be periodically reviewing and asking questions. Live and learn.

From the quotes in that article, it sounds to me like he is going to throw everyone above him under the bus in an attempt to save his own reputation. He is in complete denial. And I'd be willing to bet he wants to try and clean up his name because he thinks he will be coaching in college football again. He's a psychopath.

I honestly just hope he goes quietly, the more he tries to throw blame around the more harm it will cause to the school's reputation. It's pretty obvious from those quotes he doesn't care about that.

Oh for Christ sakes, enough already with this buffoon. Just decline to comment you f'in tool.

Here's the problem: they were reporting SOME KID'S tests but not others. I'm pretty sure I e-mailed you about this 3 years ago: Preferential treatment. Flood was picking-and-choosing.

And really, who could he even throw under the bus that matters? Hobbs? Nope, wasn't here. Ash & Co? Nope, weren't here. Barchi? Oh, suuuuure, Barchi knew football players failed drug tests and looked the other way while they played because football is so important to him. Read that again; that notion is possibly the funniest thing I've ever written. Sarah Baumgartner? I know Sarah. Never in a billion years; I'd stake my mortgage on it. The whole program was purged, and rightly so, although Flood's putrid stench remains. At bottom, whatever he does, his excuses and lack of accountability are just going to make him look even more buffoonish, if that's even possible.

He just needs to STFU. Guy is a clown. He went out of his way for garbage character players and gave multiple chances to a player that just needed to attend classes to pass a dance appreciation class and the dude didn't even bother to attend classes. He wanted to keep this type of player on the roster. Guy should have never been hired let alone lasted more than two years.

Heard him today on Sirius too, pretty sure he said that he looks forward to going before the NCAA Committee. I hope that is on video too. Joe Gardi must be rolling in his grave.

That's what stuck out to me as well. I would think that the drug testing policy and procedures were consistent across the entire Athletic Department, conducted by the same folks, processed in the same lab, and reported to the same people at the Athletic Department. After all, drug testing and enforcement is a department wide responsibility. Only notifying the coaches makes no sense, and one process for football and another for the other 21 varsity sports makes even less sense. I think what will happen at these hearings will be a whole lot of Julie and Flood throwing each other and probably also Schiano and Pernetti under the bus with lots of contradictions and finger pointing.

Pretty sure he disagrees that him directly contacting a prof. qualifies as an extra benefit to a player and therefore an NCAA violation. I'm guessing that Rutgers objects to that charge in their official response as well.
