I know this is blasphemy to many (if not most) on here - but sometimes I think it hurts RU sports (not academics) to not be named the University of New Jersey (or some other variation incorporating NJ name) - as almost all other state schools are named. I know RU dabbled with this concept in the early to mid 90's with the helmets, uniforms, field, etc. At times, you hear about recruits from across the country claiming to know little or nothing about Rutgers or even in what state it's located! And I wonder if it would help at all with the NJ pride concept among NJ athletes.. and maybe even NJ residents generally. Just curious to hear the thoughts of the die hards on here on this subject.
