Preseason is quickly coming to a close so we wanted to update our fan base on some upcoming events where you can get an up close view of our students and see them train as well as hear from the coaching staff first hand. This coming Tuesday October 11th there will be a Head Coach Meet and Greet at Moore's Tavern & Sports Bar from 6-8 PM. The address of the event is 402 West Main Street Freehold, NJ 07728 and the cost is FREE. Please stop by and support Coach Goodale as he speaks to the crowd about the Battle at the Birthplace as well as an update on this year's team.
On October 15th at 9AM prior to the Rutgers vs Illinois football game we will have an outdoor practice in the Athletes Glen which is located on the north side of High Point Solutions Stadium. This will be a great opportunity to see a team workout and speak to some of the coaches and athletes at the conclusion of practice. This is not a formal event so please spread the word and stop by for an inside look at how our students train.
The NJRTC and SKWC has added two new members, Anthony Perrotti and Taylor Walsh. Walsh is from Cherry Hill New Jersey where he attended Camden Catholic high school and won two NJ State Championships. After high school he became a NCAA finalist for Indiana University. Walsh is a prolific pinner and he will add a unique dimension to our wrestling room. At one point during his career he pinned 18 straight opponents. A rare accomplishment at the Division 1 level. Anthony Perrotti is from Roseland New Jersey and won a state championship for West Essex high school. Anthony finished as a two-time All-American for the Scarlet Knights at the collegiate level. His experience and maturity will add to his future wrestling development as well as his mentoring of our current students. Tyler Graff has committed this next season to train with our team and club as he prepares for the December non Olympic weight World Championships. The Bill Farrell Open in New York City will act as the world team trials on November 11th in 61KG & 70KG.Tyler Graff will be entering his third year with the SKWC and New Jersey Regional Training Center. This August he became our first senior level national team member and we look for Tyler to land a spot on the world team this coming November. All three of these individuals bring something new to our program and they all have a tremendous work ethic. They will be training partners as well as mentors for our young Scarlet Knights.
It was announced yesterday by the Big Ten Conference that Rutgers Wrestling will appear live on the Big Ten Network five times this upcoming season and all the matches will be on the road. It will be very easy to follow the Knights all season long whether you are at the RAC or in your home you can see our team wrestle live on nearly every date. Please follow the link BTN to read a full release on our schedule as well as the Big Ten Network TV Schedule.
Season tickets have reached a record high (1,137) and all season ticket holders will be receiving there tickets by October 31st. All group tickets for the Battle at the Birthplace presented by Autoland will be mailed out after November 1. We have sold 10,922 tickets for BATB and we continue to push the envelope with everyone in the tri state region. Please do your best to spread the word and promote this event as much as humanly possible.
