UPDATE--Paul Mulcahy at New Jersey All-Star Games--March 16 !

Boys game is at Noon and the girls game is at 2:30. Plenty of parking, which I am guessing is Free.

Guys, I was given wrong information the other day. PLEASE note the games are on Saturday, March 16 !

New Rutgers Basketball player Paul Mulcahy will be in the New Jersey All-Star Basketball Game Saturday, March 16 at Rider University in Lawrenceville. Boys game is at Noon and the girls game is at 2:30. Tickets are only $5. There is plenty of parking, which I am guessing is Free.

MadRU,
About 7 or 8 kids from the North team, including Paul, and about 3 or 4 from the South team did not show up. Their names were in the program people got at the gym and the announcer announced their names and every time, people just looked around and the kids were not there. I looked and looked to see if Paul was there in regular clothes in case he was injured, but never saw him. Anyway, if you like high scoring games with almost NO DEFENSE, this was it. I think the final score was something like 142-122. At halftime, they had a dunk contest and three point contest. There was a kid from Colonia who stood out--had a real nice shot, maybe 6 foot 7 or so. Think his last name was Baker.--By the way, why isn't this game played at Rutgers like it used to be. No offense to Rider, but the New Jersey All-Star Game should not be played in a gym that is smaller than many high schools. Wallkill Valley and Elizabeth's facilities look like the Superdome compared to Rider's Alumni Gym. I have no idea how a school can run a Division 1 program with that size facility. All-Star games in jst about every sport need to be played at New Jersey's State University.

And again, another event I just had a feeling wouldn't materialize and Didn't go. Wish I could pick stocks like this.

I'm not sure how you can say that this game should be played at RU, when a good number of the players simply did not show up to play.

The whole thing looked like it was done on a shoestring budget. Unless I missed them, there were no signs, not even simple "Welcome New Jersey All-Stars" signs, out in front of Rider on Route 206, on the campus,in front of Alumni Gym, or in the gym. When you walked in, there was a guy at a table with these cheesy looking cotton "jerseys" that the players were supposed to know were for them. They looked like something from a T shirt shop at the mall that you would buy for Uncle Bill's 70th birthday party. On the front, it said NJSIAA North and NJSIAA South. NO NAMES on the back . The players were not given matching shorts either. So some kids were wearing their school shorts and some just looked like they grabbed anything from the hamper before they left the house. The Three Point Contest judges were a guy from the NJSIAA and a player from each team. Couldn't they have at least made a call to Rider,The College of New Jersey, and Princeton to have one of their assistant assistants drive five minutes and make it look like something a little special for the kids and parents. The worst part might have been the announcer who was making really corny jokes the ENTIRE game as if he was trying out for Chuckles Comedy Club.

Wow, sounds like a BAD minor league baseball game in Podunk, USA.

Degaz,
I have probably been to about ten--twelve minor league baseball and hockey venues. This was far worse.-- To be fair, remember, some South Jersey politician is crippling the NJSIAA. He got some law passed that they can not charge a reasonable amount of money for many of their events until the end of time. High school sports is still the best entertainment bargain around. Heck, they charge less than half of what it costs to go to a movie. I think the guy is named Burzichelli. Apparently, everything must be perfect in South Jersey for him to have become involved in high school sports ticket prices.
