To keep Thiam, Pikiell is going to need to keep Shoes. The fact that Shoes remains a presence on campus is very telling.

I think basketball is different because one player can make a big difference. Now, I don't know if Thiam is a difference maker but just think if we signed Jason Williams.

Don't think it's that telling....

Remember, Ash kept some assistants on until he filled his staff. Everyone thought that meant something, but then Panagos and Campanille were let go after a few weeks.

Coaches usually keep assistants on to help the transition...can't read much into Shoes being around..until something is formally announced, imo.

strongly disagree. look how Seton Hall got Whitehead. Thiam isn't Whitehead, but no one else has proven they can recruit RU. When Shoes was on board, we landed Sanders, Laurent, and Freeman. He was also the main recruiter for Thiam.

With his responsibilities at Stony Brook as listed in the bio, which other non-recruiting (nothing stopping him from coaching)
position would he do at RU?

Exactly and add Doorson to that list. And that was under the constraints of the old regime (recruiting budget and otherwise)

Not sure what browser you're using, but in most you can open a new private/incognito window (Google how to do this if you're unsure) and you can get around most paywalls/view limits on sites.

honestly, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

FIG...I'm sure no one even remembers the tweet, it's only being talked about here. Sanders knows he has two options, regardless of Shoes.....declare and go undrafted or return to Rutgers. He is working out on campus. He is not transferring to sit out. I guess he could always transfer down to NE Fort Meyers U in Florida and play against high school level talent. That will really prepare him for the draft.

If Pikiell retains Shoes it's because he wants him and thinks he would help him succeed.

Here is a hint to circumvent the subscription requirement for the APP. If you search for the article using key words through Google you don't need to login and you get a free look. Google apparently requires that for anyone subject to their searches
