What if all Shoes does is recruit and Young doesn't and focuses on player development for the first year? The goal being to keep Corey, bring Thiam in and recruit for the fall signing period.
Could be Shoes is looking for a long term committment, but thought most assistants were on year to year contracts. If Pikiell didn't like/want Shoes then he would already be gone. Why would he keep him around another month? And P doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that wold string Shoes along. Granted, if someone else signed up that precluded P from keeping Vetrone he'd be gone. But barring a major deveiopment, seems that Vetrone stays on board.
My guess is it's SHoes that's looking for a longer term commitment (extension?) and/or a little more cash. Maybe P wants to see how the year will go before commiting. Think we'll know soon.
Is there a spot for Shoes that he can go on the road and talk to the recruits that RU is targeting or is that only allowed for the HC and assistants to do.the goal is to get Knight and Shoes in some capacity, this isn't a either or scenario.
Not possible. Ncaa rules govern number of coaches. Hc and 3 assistants. Only coaches can recruit off campus.I was thinking that maybe Pikiell (HC), (Three Recruiting Assistants) Hobbs, Knight, and Shoes, while Young is the non recruiting coach. Guess its possible.

Great ideaIsn't that what I said? Pikiell and 3 assistants to recruit, Hobbs, Knight, and Shoes. With Young being a non recruiting coach.
Depends on what you meant by "coach. " Either young or shoes would have to have a title other than coach. And only coaches can actually handle on court - you know coaching. Nobsuch thing as nonvrecruiting coach unless its a grad assistant.Isn't that what I said? Pikiell and 3 assistants to recruit, Hobbs, Knight, and Shoes. With Young being a non recruiting coach.
Young would be the replacement of 'The Statue of Mike O'Koren'. He could still coach but can't go out to recruit.Depends on what you meant by "coach. O'Koren working hard on the RU bench will always be a classic.Young would be the replacement of 'The Statue of Mike O'Koren'. He could still coach but can't go out to recruit.
I don't think this is correct. Keady at St. John's. You are correct that only a certain number of guys can go out and recruit, but I believe you can pay advisors. I don't think it would happen though in this case. Shoes and Young will want to be recruiting assistants. It's one or the other.Depends on what you meant by "coach. Keady was cheating at St. Johns. He was at practice and interacting even though that was against the rules. Don't expect to see that in our program. 1 head coach and 3 assistants are allowed on court for practice and the same 4 are allowed on the road recruiting. You can bet everything you own that Young will be an assistant and on the road recruiting.
Now that you bring up Sheridan, has he said if he is staying or going to transfer? Not sure we can survive both he and Sanders leaving.Shoes is turning into a real life Sheridan on this board. You would think someone would have come around and plucked him away from Pikiell by now. I hope that this is the week the full staff is announced.
Contemplating his former course load at UNC and what affect the NCAA's action will have on it?O'Koren working hard on the RU bench will always be a classic.
Expect an announcement on the completion of the staff early this week. You'll like what you hear

is Knight trying to land the NJIT job..and thats the latest hold up with him?
Knight looking for another job is not the issue. Loose ends are being tied up and it will be a done deal. It's as close to being a done as possible without the actual contract being signed.

Was I supposed to run the rebounding drills?
You gentlemen do realize, I assume, that the NCAA rules prohibited Mike O from interacting with players during games. He could speak with coaches, but not players.Good times.
We're Rutgers, it's not done until he signs. But can't wait for it to be official!
Hope you're right, he's probably getting some good offers and having his agent check them out before committing to accepting RU's offer.Knight looking for another job is not the issue.
