From what I'm watching we are going to have more problems in the B1G than Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State in two years. They are a program rising very quickly. Scary. $$$$

But it’ll be a cool road game trip.

USC is better than all of those programs when they have a real coach. Talent is never the issue there. And now they have a real coach.

USC has been dormant a long time
I like the QB Caleb WIlliams (only a 20 yr old sophomore and from Washington DC)
34 TDs and 3 INTs
He's easily the best QB I've seen this year - makes everything look easy like Mahomes does

Interesting factoid is Riley brought in over 30 new players through the portal this year and NIL was very much part of it. USC has a ton of money and they will go out and get a bunch more this year. Also it seems having scholarships available doesn't really matter that much any more since they are paying the players and that money will " pay" for their scholarship.

Agree with Ashokan above, if you didn't get to watch the game try and find some highlights of Williams last night. I was wowed with his scrambling ability.

Totally disagree. Yes USC is better then they were last year but last I checked they still play in the PAC12 which doesn't play defense at all.

Riley will have them back to the Pete Carroll days soon. Watch out for when Washington joins Big 10 too. Their coach is also really good

He did some of that at OU and earlier this year at USC too but some of that scrambling last night was on another level even for Williams IMO.

People assume just because you gather that talent it just all clicks and works. It's not a given. Not everyone who gathers talent wins, so Riley has done a good job bringing the pieces together and making them fit and go.

Utah will be likely be a tough game for them though. Nail biter game the first time.

And they get a full share day one so they can figure out more ways to get players.. if they even need that.

Our aspirations will be 6-6, 7-5 in this league. Which today would be fantastic.

That only means something to those that thinks Finebaum knows alot about college football. I'm not one of them. He is an idiot.

We can beat USC in men's basketball. In football it will be another Ohio State for Schiano, 45 to 0 or thereabouts.

A true blueblood. One of the few programs where all they need are they right HC to compete for nattys.

Wait, so there's more to CFB than just talent and coaching can make a big difference? Weird

Takes both to win big.

We are never going to get crazy talent so we need crazy coaching to be competitive with our peers.

SCs head coach was very complimentary of Pike when I golfed with him.
So far he seems to have great potential to be a transformative coach, the guy who puts the program on the map for years to come. The kind of coach we thought Schiano was going to be.

Basketball and football couldn’t be more different but you can see Pikes program evolving. He’s a D first guy which is ok especially when you are at a talent deficit but with each recruiting class you see more emphasis being placed on offense. The trajectory is clearly upwards. The same can’t be said for football. If it was stock, you’d by basketball and sell football.

Even before the new PFP system, the BIG10 was a bad fit for Rutgers. Why? Well it is because we were too small in the watered down Big East, let alone the BIG.

Now GS needs more 💰 than he has, just to get a high 3 or 4 🌟 in the same room with him. Very little to fend off an offer sheet.

USC is light years ahead of RU. They were an aspiration, in a small microcosm way, in the old system. Now in this paradigm, they are just one more juggernaut to kick our ass in season's to come.

I hope we all realize that we are talking about USC with 11 National Championships and they claim 6 more. They have 39 conference titles and 7 Heisman winners and add in 80 consensus All- Americans . Top 20 University and a ton of $$ and big name boosters.

As I said in my post above they paid NIL like crazy this year to bring in 30 new players. I will agree that GS had a bad season. But we cannot compare what Riley has done at USC to anything that could be done here.

And rewarding recruits and their families is old hat to USC. NIL is a tiny wrinkle for the Trojans.
