Rodgers has spent time on both the offensive and defensive lines during his four years at USC.
CAREER: He has 9 career starts (6 at center, 3 at offensive guard).

2016: The experienced Rodgers, who started the last half of 2015 at center, was moved to defensive tackle in the fall of 2016 to bolster the corps and will battle for playing time as a junior in 2016. He was limited in 2016 spring practice while recovering from 2015 post-season shoulder surgery.

2015: Rodgers served as a backup center for the first half of his 2015 sophomore season before becoming the starter for 6 games (California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, UCLA and Wisconsin). Overall in 2015, he appeared in 11 games (all but Stanford, Washington and Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship Game). He was called into action early in the Utah game when starter Toa Lobendahn went out with a season-ending knee injury and performed without a hitch. He sprained his right ankle against UCLA and was sidelined against Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship Game. He had shoulder surgery after the Wisconsin game. He had shoulder surgery after the season.

2014: Rodgers served as a backup offensive guard for most of his 2014 redshirt freshman season, seeing brief action against Colorado and Washington State, then he started 3 late-season games (Washington State, California, UCLA) at left guard. He also worked some at center. He hurt his knee in 2014 fall camp and that sidelined him for the Fresno State game. 2013: Rodgers redshirted as a freshman offensive guard-center in 2013, his first year at USC.

For real, Rutgers are among the over 20 offers that were given to him.

So lets see what happens.

Two words...Kyle Flood.
This one you can blame on Schiano. He's the one that thought he didn't have optimum measurables and held back an offer. Flood did offer but by that time he was in the 20 offer range. Flood was an incompetent fool, but this one isn't on him.

You are right after reading the article.

It was schiano who wouldn't offer him. Flood did once he became head coach but it was too late

LOL at the comments above.

Is the Rocket in the mix too?
So now you think you know more than a guy that does this for a living and is tied into real info.
You make a bonehead post. Are embarrassed by your lack of knowledge and attack others. What a dirt bag! But I've known that for years!

Stands out.
I think he'd probably be a good addition, but lets not act like he was an All American when arguing with each-other .
He was at a program that just eeks talent, so Khaliel probably would be a great addition
to the RU FB roster

Can't make heads or tails out of the numerous things he was quoted as saying. Would say we have a 50/50 shot here (selected quotes):

"But my thing is this -- I done been through it all. I'm not really worried about where the school is at. I'm really just focused on the opportunity at hand. Whatever school it is, I need to know it's going to be the best opportunity for me to come in and play right away."

"And like I said, Rutgers is a good school. I've always liked Rutgers," he said. "So we'll see if down the road maybe an official visit comes through or not. We've just got to see."

"I live in LA (Los Angeles), South Central LA, right now. Like I said, it would be a tremendous asset for me to go back home," he said. "I've got a son closer to home and all. But like I said, it's still a business move, so that really wont over-affect my decision too much. If the best fit is in Texas, or if the best fit is in New Hampshire somewhere, then I've got to go.

"But I do keep that in the back of my mind to stay closer to home and all that. Definitely."

He's not going pro so its not much of a business decision. Might as well get half your grad degree paid for. Choose wisely.

A guy who started 9 games his entire career it's not really a business decision. He needs to go to a team where he can get on the field. He aint starting for the TExas Longhorns.

He is an offensive lineman from USC. They just beat PSU. It might be nice having another lineman with experience next year who has actually beaten the Peds. Also, gives us another experienced guy while the young recruits are being groomed. I think his addition would have more upside than down.

Rodgers has offers from Texas Tech and Baylor. He was referring to the state not the University.

Interesting that another Khalil(center) about the same size was also slow played by Schiano a year or two earlier who ended up with a nice career at Stanford

We are better than Texas Tech and Baylor and should aspire to recruit better linemen.

Did you even bother to read the article? The kid said while it would be nice to play close to home, this is a business decision. I.e. He wants to find a school where he can start so he can showcase himself to get to the League, he even mentioned New Hampshire. If he thinks he can step in and claim the center or guard job at Rutgers he'll come here but if he thinks he has a better opportunity to start somewhere else he'll go there.

Rodgers was a 2013 recruit, this was all Flood. Schiano left in 2011, Flood could of offered the kid at a junior day in January 2012.

Recruiting takes place prior to your senior year. Schiano had him at a camp where he did very well, but Schiano didn't like his measurables. Schiano never offered. Once Flood took over in February of 2012, Rutgers try to get back in good graces with him. By that time going into his senior year (August of 2012) his stock had grown beyond Rutgers.

When it comes to centers I would throw measurables out the window(IMO). It's all a leverage and strength game down in the middle of the line. Your really in a 3 to 4 yd. box, give me a guy who's nasty, strong as an ox, knows how to use his leverage and is smart.IMO the optimum height for a center falls between 6'2" and 6'3".

You really don't need the length in that small box your surrounded and they have to come to you. Tackles now that's an entirely different situation(I could never do what those guys do), those guys have to have the length and be dancing bulls. I always liked the analogy you need wrestlers for guards, basketball players for tackles and a guy who hates the world at center.

He's the same size as Derrick Nelson and Dorian Miller. Maybe Greg just liked them better?

UNH would love to have him and his experience!

PS - yes, I follow UNH too

I did not take the time to read all of the attached articles but going through the thread it seems as there is one that confirmed it was about Schiano. If I am wrong, my bad...I should know better than to go by what anyone says.
On the other hand...bad as Flood was, he did take some OL that were under 6'5 and Greg had slow played very similar kids even if very good and legacies

Like I stated in my post Flood did offer, but by time we got back into the game the kid had 20 or so offers. Many of them from powerhouses. Schiano is the one who initially showed no interest. He camped with us and left with no offer, then hears nothing from us until Flood offers. Buy this time do you really think Flood had any shot.

Wasn't Flood the o-line coach?? Can't blame just Schiano
Flood had his recruiting and evaluation responsibilities curtailed by Schiano after the disastrous 2010 season. All offers went directly through Schiano, he says no that's it.
