USF's pitch for Big 12 Expansion - Can't make this stuff up....

The most interesting thing in that article is, "UCF’s very specific academics shots at Cincinnati and UConn.". If they did that, there is no way the B12 takes UCF. That's just bad salesmanship and really amateurish. A Cardinal Rule of sales is to never knock your competition because it reflects poorly on those that do.

You can do a negative sales by mentioning their academics positively, but overcome it with an explanation of how UCF's is much better. That doesn't reflect badly on the people doing the pitch.

It's all a dog and pony show. They know who they are taking

UConn has retained counsel to refute UCF's and USF's presentations of facts.

I think I would call them 'Super Sized Community Colleges' because of their enrollment.
I see people make these types of comments frequently. Don't have anyone attending either school so not being defensive but here are the average numbers for incoming freshman.

RU SAT = 1285 ACT = 29 GPA = 3.8
UCF SAT = 1263 ACT = 28 GPA = 4.0

Not exactly a world of difference.

That is the amazing.

LOL, what does that have to do with anything? Where is Rutgers ranked in research vs UCF? How about national ranking? How is the Big Ten compared to the AAC? Come on man!

What are the weather statistics for the 2 schools?

Who really thinks that they care about academics??? This is all about where they are located and how many fans/TV's. RU is considered by many as a quasi Ivy school, but it was a geographical location and TV decision.

In this case TV has nothing to do with it, there will never be a BIG12 network. Location doesn't matter. It is all about a cash grab and which school is willing to whore itself out for less pay.

If they add four, three seem easy to me--BYU,Houston, and Central Florida. I don't know who they pick as the fourth--Cincy,San Diego State,ECU,Temple,UConn,Memphis,UNLV,Colorado State all have plusses and minuses.

Wouldn't all of these schools make more money by going to the Big 12 even with the by in period. Don't the AAC teams make like $2 million a year?

This has the potential to be one of the saddest days in sports history.

If either Yukon or UCF get the invite, what will become of Civil Conflict trophy?

The NCAA simply can't allow this travesty to occur. This conference stuff is ruining the game and all the best rivalries.

That's alright. UConn looks to be throwing a temper tantrum and per Blaudschun (ajerseyguy.com) will look to leave the American if they can't get into the Big 12. Here's a hint, UConn: YOU'RE NOT WANTED!!!!!

There won't be a buy in period.... They will never make as much as the rest of the schools for the rest of the TV contract.

They will only add two schools.

Follow the beat reporters on twitter if you want to know just what the hell is happening with this clusterfvck. It is crazier and weirder than you think.

I wasn't the one who called them community colleges. And no, I don't think academics will factor into the big 12 decision.

Where the hell will they go? The MAC? The MAC school would destroy them in football.

Sun Belt?

Seems like they want to have Big East all sports and just keep football in the American. But they haven't been invited yet. Would the Big East take them, and do they want a football headache once more?

This is really sad to see - schools whoring themselves so publicly. IMO, Cincy deserves it most because they continue to win and Ohio could use another P5. Followed by Houston and BYU. If they want the biggest potential money grab I'd consider UNLV as the 4th. UConn should either beg ACC or convert and go Big East.

Remember when a hot rumor was as the Big 12 was imploding, and the BE was shakey that the two conferences should merge? There was a lot of TV support as I recall. What would that have done to the landscape!

With due respect, no one "deserves" anything , its not a meritocracy.

This isn't like the English soccer leagues where you move up a flight if you win.

It's all about what do they bring to the table financially and frankly other than BYU (because they do have a national following albeit much more in the West) none of these schools bring anything to the table.

The B12 should stand pat really. I still don't get why they are itching to expand with these candidates.

Agree. Also UCF admission rate is just under 50%. Rutgers -- 60%. THAT IS EMBARRASSING! If you have a pulse you should get into Rutgers. Rutgers needs to change that quickly to be taken seriously as a top state institution.

Memphis... everyone sleeps on them.

There presentation will come on Fedex letterhead and have a check attached. No one else has that "institutional support".

This is the last expansion we'll see for decades. Hence why these schools are doing whatever it takes to get in.

If the B12 expands, TX and OK will dominate it and will stay for a long time.

We could stand to have a little more class about the matter. There but for the grace of geography/TV markets goes Rutgers...

Our geography >>>> their geography...too bad, so sad...just the way goes in this day and age! We along with a few others WON realignment!

I don't think I'll ever get tired of this one!

The average incoming GPAs are a 4.0 and 3.8? That seems a little high, right?
High schools these days (having just gone through this with my daughter) give more than 4.0 for A's in AP and honors courses so students can graduate with GPAs above 4.0.
