Watching VCU giving Duke all it can handle. I am always amazed at the kind of players that VCU lands. Mostly 4-year players not headed to the NBA, but athletic and everyone can handle the ball, defend, rebound, play unselfishly, play physically and with energy and max effort, and make free throws. Players from TN, PA, VA, NY (3 from the Bronx), MI, FL, AL, OK, Egypt. They have as many players from the Bronx as they do from VA. Given their roster, it sure looks like VCU's staff is outworking our staff. How does VCU assistant Rasheen Davis (St. Thomas Aquinas, Sparkhill, NY) end up on the Will Wade staff at VCU? His credentials make it obvious he belongs at Rutgers, not VCU. Where is Rutgers going wrong when it comes to putting together a staff, and recruiting and beating the bushes for talent? How does VCU evaluate and identify and land their talent?

We didn't have Shaka Smart coaching here

Will Wade, who had interest in the Rutgers job when Mike Rice was hired, hired Rasheen Davis, not Shaka Smart. VCU hires a proven recruiter with a track record, we hire from the Canarias Basketball Academy and someone learning the ropes. You can't make this stuff up.

That's how they got that roster (Shaka Smart). We have the staff we have because thats the coaches decision

A lot of their success has to do with player development, a foreign concept at RU for the better part of the last 3 decades.

I was watching Wisconsin lose to Georgetown after already losing to Western Illinois. What do you think it is about Eddie and his staff that make him better than Bo Ryan and his?
