I wonder if Jay is going to stay at Villanova until he retires or will he moves somewhere else as a challenge. He won the national championship last year so its going to be hard to top that moment there. I wonder if say Indiana fires Crean this year or next that they might want to lure Jay away

Villanova is a small private school that has excelled in track and mens basketball. They have attracted top head coaches that has kept Villanova relevant in college basketball. In contrast Rutgers a major state university has changed conferences but the dismal results remain. The RAC needs a upgrade in seating and other amenities to make it look first class but I doubt it will happen before 2023 at the earliest.Nobody that matters ,ie,fans and donors see the urgency for improvements. They think the practice facility will satisfy the needs but what they fail to understand is that league opponents and other recruiting rivals have both.Guys, lets call a spade a spade. The Pavilion, aka the Ski Lodge, is a worse on campus facility than the RAC.
They are investing, so far we are not.
That is the story IMHO. Spin it any way you want but those are the facts as I see them.

And what other people seem to not understand is the reason that league opponents and other recruiting rivals are upgrading both is because they are making 50 million when we make 12 million. It's sad but it's the price to pay in order to get a membership is this conference which we will have forever in the Erie so if it takes 5 years of falling behind to be getting it is what it is but we know that Once the money comes in we will have a better chance competing and that goes for all sportsVillanova is a small private school that has excelled in track and mens basketball. They think the practice facility will satisfy the needs but what they fail to understand is that league opponents and other recruiting rivals have both.
Not sure if seriousIf he were to leave nova, which I don't expect,it would not be for a college job like Indiana that would be ridiculous.
Not sure if serious
1. He's born and raised in PA.
2. He works/lives in Philadelphia.
3. He makes $2.5M
4. He has strong recruiting area.
5. He has brand name cache.
Indiana is not the draw it used to be. I believe Crean makes $3M a year. I don't think $500k is enough to remove him and family from his home or job security at Villanova. I'm also sure any proposed salary increase would be met by Villanova. The move makes no sense. And again, Indiana or Philly!
Indiana is still one of the premier programs in the country even though it has overall lost some luster. It has advantages that Villanova does not have. I am not saying that Jay would leave for Indiana but if wishes to have a challenge, a job like Indiana which overall is a better program than Villanova (I am not talking about year to year..talking about program here, support, money, conference all that jazz) this would be a job that he could leap to. There are not many jobs you can see Jay jumping to and it would only be to programs historically on the elite level like Kentucky, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Indiana..say what you want about Indiana but these are those programs where the name means just as much as the results. As good as the BE is, the Big 10 can offer even more visibility and prestige.
Some coaches want challenges, some want to stay, Does he want to stay at Nova another 15 years? Would he jump to the NBA?

In my head I was thinking the same exact thing in terms of the programs you listed, but, I would not include Indiana. I understand the reasoning though. Even if including them, I do think you can argue that Indiana would be the least attractive to Jay and also least logical (in my opinion at least). Personally, I don't think he leaves for anything else other than an NBA job, but if he went college, it would be Duke/UNC/UCLA/Kentucky in that order (some jobs less likely to become available than others) and I would think Kansas would be more attractive than Indiana.
From the challenge aspect, I think it's just too subjective, and I'm sure he considers winning another title at Nova a challenge like any other .

Upgrade to the arena on campus?Jay turned down UK after Tubby left. They hired Billy Gillespie. He makes over 3 mill per year from salary alone. He always says don't mess with happy. He isn't going anywhere soon.
I see him staying. There are enough grass is greener cautionary tales out there. He is at a basketball-first school in a solid league that is just challenging enough to consistently build a tournament resume, but not completely overwhelming. He's in a good spot for recruiting with many regional rivalries in tact. They are making a commitment to facilities so there's no real reason to leave. If he were to leave nova, which I don't expect,it would not be for a college job like Indiana that would be ridiculous.
Kansas is nice but its below Indiana in basketball royalty. Hoosiers!
