Do you know Anthony "Ryan" Russo was the only QB not in the top 250. I don't understand if he did it on the field last year with TD passes to INT ratio how does someone like a JG get rated higher if he has not done anything on the field close to what Anthony has done....with that said I fully expect Anthony is going to have a monster year and will get bumped into top 10 as QB Nationally and get his 4th **** the kid is just too good not to. I hope his HS coach leans on him heavily passing the ball so he can truly show what he is capable of

I sure as heck don't. Why do we want him to get better stars? To raise our recruiting rankings? Those are silly anyway, and I think people overestimate stars in terms of a "domino" effect. I'd rather he fly under the radar since we've already got him. I don't want some place like Ohio State making a run for him. It's not national signing day yet, and I don't see the point in putting some ridiculous pressure on the kid.

Besides: "89 - 80 = Three-star prospect. One of the top 10% players in the nation. This player will develop into a reliable starter for his college team and is among the best players in his region of the country. Many three-stars have significant pro potential."

You are inconsistent. If star ratings are just for show then why would him getting MORE stars all of a sudden get OSU interested. If him being a higher star player is enough to get OSU on board, then it should proably also be attractive to individual players.

I don't think stars/ratings don't matter, I'm saying I think people overestimate them in terms of a domino effect for other recruits. An increase in national exposure, in my mind, doesn't help us. It could just cause bigger schools to take more interest. I don't think another star is going to really jumpstart other recruits going for Rutgers, game tape of Russo throwing touchdowns will do that just fine. A university recruiter however, might decide to check the kid out a bit more, see what's so special that he'd be upgraded to a four star.

What I do think are silly are recruiting class rankings. If I'm a hypothetical team/university, and I have 3 five stars, but they're all QBs, then my recruiting ranking is going to jump, regardless of whether I need any quartbacks. I could have a class filled with only five and four star quarterbacks, and that would rank well, because the rankings, as far as I know, don't account for the actual needs of the team. Correct me if I'm wrong. (I may be!)

I think this is mute at this point. His name shows up on elite11 list - if another school will look at him it won't be because of a 4th star.

I hope he lights it up this year.

While I don't particularly care about the rankings, I do think that Russo deserves a hell of a lot more respect than he's been getting. But hey, whatever, we know who we got.

The only person who should care about his stars is him.
Right now, he appears to be a totally solid verbal.

Lets just be glad he's ours and let him earn his bones on the field leading them to wonder....How did he end up at RU instead of FSU or OSU,ND?
